This country was violent before Hip Hop and it will be violent after Hip Hop.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Young Rap Fans = More Prone to Alcohol, Drug Use, and Aggressive Behaviour
I do this frequently... but does anybody else try to relate the increase in violence in this day-n-age, to the cancellations and pulls of shows such as Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, etc... and replacing them with shows like Blues Clues, or Dora the Explorer???
I almost think that because kids aren't exposed to shows with some kind of violence just for laughs, (Elmer Fudd getting his face shot off with his own gun was pretty frequent) hunger for violence as they get older? I almost feel like with the cartoons/shows on now that are so dumbed-down and disclude any form of violence (even your average frying pan to the head ala Tom and Jerry) kids don't get it out of their system.
So forget Hiphop for a second... what do you guys think about the whole overhaul in cartoons?SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

It's funny to me how music is always blamed for the ills of society. First it was jazz, then r&b, rock, and now rap. The older generation always tries to find something to complain about when it comes to the younger generation.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Young Rap Fans = More Prone to Alcohol, Drug Use, and Aggressive Behaviour
Rap has to take the blame, when every song has violence, drugs, language, what do you think the people listening to it are going to do. They will act like that to be cool. Sure the parents should raise them better, but they may not be there because they are a single parent and have to work. 50 cent and other rappers should step up and clean their songs up and then see if it changes.
It is more about what is in the songs though, not rap. Rap just happens to contain those.Comment

Originally posted by jmood88Rap isn't the only genre to have those characteristics and not every rap song is like that.
i listen to songs about gangbanging , drugs, murder and other such subjects yet im a straight-edge . my favorite genre of movies is horror yet im not going to turn into a killer.
im sure the same ppl that put these stereotypes(not that some of them arent warranted) on rap , praise movies such as "goodfellas , scarface , the godfather " . i see no difference.Last edited by kuruption; 05-01-2006, 11:07 PM.And with the third pick - I made the earth sick
