I'd avoid it. There's a reason why it's being liquidated.
Take care,

Actually, I had one. The sound is very good. The software leaves something to be desired though. You can use a USB cable only to transfer but it goes down to USB 1.1 instead of USB 2.0. You can only get 2.0 using the Gigabeat software and dock. $169.99 is pretty darn good if you can live with the software being strange. The picture quality is outstanding. Album art and other photos look really nice. The software is just somewhat of a pain compared to others I've seen. I got one for $199.99 at Costco and thought that it was a nice deal. I took it back because I just wasn't using it as much as I thought, but it wasn't because the player was bad. They just released a firmware update (US 3.0) that made the sound even better. This and a pair of Sennheiser PX100s worked out very well for me.
If you end up getting one and want the official Toshiba leather case for it, let me know. They're semi-hard-to-find, but I have one I want to get rid of.
Pk, it's most likely being liquidated because Toshiba is about to come out with a new S model series of Gigabeat that works better with Windows Media Center, has an FM tuner, and a few other bells and whistles. It's not because it's a bad player.Last edited by caseyd; 05-01-2006, 08:29 PM.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

Re: MP3 player?
I would read the comments on the woot forum. Seems pretty good for the money, but I don't know much about them.
The firmware on the player can be upgraded to a Japanese version or even the new US version which improves sound quality and adds other features to the UI among other things.
Also, an open sourced firmware called Rockbox is currently being developed for the gigabeat which would add a myriad of features such as gapless audio, support for just about every different type of audio file, drag and drop since it would show up as a seperate hard drive, fully customizable UI, a 5 band EQ, etc.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
