Re: College laptop advice
I guess I'll be the first one to contribute something a little more meaningful to the thread.
I'd go with a Dell, you can always get great deals and they make pretty good machines. I just got an Inspiron E1505 for college, and with a $750 off coupon code for purchases over $2000 (they pop up from time to time) I got my system for about $1620 after tax. It's got a 256 MB graphics card, 1 GB of RAM, and an 80 GB hard drive. I also threw in a DVD burner and a docking station with a stand so that the display is higher up and more comfortable for working in a dorm room for example. It's got a 15.4" widescreen display which I think is plenty of real estate.
Hopefully that helps you out, let me know if you want some more information or have any other specific questions.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers
Marquette Golden Eagles | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee PanthersComment

Re: College laptop advice
If you get a Dell get the longest warranty you can get, trust me. Went with the one year warranty twice. The first time my dell laptop died after about 15 months. I got a new one about 18 months ago and of course went with the one year warranty. My laptop now shuts off basically once a day due to overheating just from sitting on my desk with no programs running perfectly ventilated. I could grill a steak on it, it's ridiculous.Comment
