I'm hoping to get to about 115 by the end of summer, and eventually would love to have over 200... Is it foolish of me to collect DVD's for my collection? And how many DVD's do some of you guys on OS own?
When is too much for when it comes to owning DVD's?

When is too much for when it comes to owning DVD's?Currently I own 84 DVD's.... I'm looking to expand my collection at every chance I get... Today while at a Mom and Pops record store I was picking up some DVD's when the guy behind the counter said why are you buying all these movies? It's just a waste of money.... That got me thinking... collecting DVD's is certainly an expensive hobby but when is too much too much?

Re: When is too much for when it comes to owning DVD's?

It depends. I got up to 600 in my collection and decided it was too many. The factor in my choice was, how much was I watching these movies.Originally posted by SuperstarCurrently I own 84 DVD's.... I've gotten rid of some them and decide to keep the BEST movies. I'm now down 200 and decided to slow down on my "hobby".

To tell the truth I could lose a few more and it wouldn't hurt at all.Comment

I had over 700 at one time, got rid of a bunch I won't watch again or won't ever watch period, I have about 450 right now, and yes, it's an addiction.Comment

Re: When is too much for when it comes to owning DVD's?

I have 300+ but now I find myself buying more of the old stuff rather than new movies. I usually buy timeless comedy classics or just straight up action but they're usually older movies. I hate Wal-mart with their $5 bins or video stroes with the 2-for-1 specials...they just bait us movie lovers...Carolina Pride!!!

I only have 40 which is composed of only my absolute favorites..only a number of them found at the five dollar bin at walmart...never to be borrowed nor leave the house
I feel about them just what i feel about books.....once i'm done reading it i basically never pick it up again....but if someone comes over and haven't seen that particular movie i'll go ahead and watch it with them.....Boogity, Boogity, BoogityComment

Re: When is too much for when it comes to owning DVD's?

I never understood buying movies except for a handful of films that you can watch over and over. I may own six or seven DVDs, tops.

For you cats who own 500+ DVDs, have you really watched each of them three times or more to justify the expense as opposed to the cost of renting? If so, then you have a f*ck of a lot of free time on your hands!

 Take care,
