    ESPN and Bonds.

At what point will ESPN stop interrupting it's other shows to show a Bonds at-bat. I don't care that much about that record that I want every show on thier afternoon block that I watch interupted. (1st & 10, NFL live, ATH, & PTI.) If he hits it just show it on sportscenter.

Sorry I didn't know where to put my rant but I'm done now.

The official Bonds thread would probably be a good idea. :o

Well, they are a SPORTS network and it is history, so that would explain them cutting into their entertainment shows. If they cut into some playoff games I might get mad.

        I'm tired of Bonds.

        It's not even a record.

It is a little strange that they are interrupting that, especially to tie Ruth, and not passing him. And like pfunk said, it's not a record. Second place is an achievement, but it's not a passing of recognition.

I guess it doesn't matter too much to me, because I'm watching the game as it's played on FSN Bay Area, and not on ESPN. I guess... sorry for those that don't really care about it.

I personally don't care about it too much, either. I just want him to play and perform well. I want his season stats to incline overall before his career stats, and I want the Giants to get a World Series title under their belt in SF.

He'll be due up again this inning. Looks like PTI will be interrupted.

It's ****ing stoopid. But then again, it's ESPN we're talking about here. All hype, no substance.

I'm even starting to get tired of Mike and Mike. I loved Greenie when he was on the Score here in Chicago, but he's getting more and more 'ESPNized' every day and sounding more and more like an idiot.

I guess it's what they expect. Then again, they're owned by Disney.....

It's NOT history. History will occur if Bonds breaks Aaron's record.

Is there any coincidence that ESPN, which has a Barry Bonds reality show, is cutting into its broadcasts to show Bonds' attempts to tie Ruth? I think not.

This is all about promotion, not news. ESPN hasn't been about news for a few years now. It's all about promotion of the ESPN brand and the network's shows and personalities.

ESPN always tries to create history when its not really there.

But just side on ESPNs side for a little bit, when you think of homeruns, you think of Babe Ruth. So Bonds passing the Babe is pretty news worthy to me.

Maybe not enough to show his every at bat but to maybe at least show it as soon as he does it so that we dont have to just keep seeing him walk, get struck out or get a base hit every 20 minutes or so

                        Re: ESPN and Bonds.

ESPN has gotten out of control with it's Bonds coverage. Everyday on sportscenter it's the lead or second lead story with a breakdown of every AB by 2 or 3 of the studio guys. Then in the middle of SC they'll talk about Bonds again for another 5 minutes.
Baseball Tonight is the worst, why the hell do I need a 5 minute report everyday from Pedro Gomez on how many cups of water Bonds drank during the 7th inning stretch, and this is after the studio guys breakdown every swing Bonds takes for 10 minutes. Forget about the Sox and Yanks, the Phils and Mets, Jake Peavy pitching an absoloute gem and striking out 13. Let's devote 15 minutes of coverage in an hour show to Barry Bonds going 0-3 and looking like absoloute garbage in the field. I used to hate Bonds, now I think if someone killed my entire family and burned my house to the ground I would still hate Bonds more than that guy.

Well, I don't quite think that Bonds is the head of who's controlling how many times he gets watched to bat on national television. If anything, he (in a way) does not want this coverage of him anymore, as he needs these next two home runs to calm down with his swing and impatience for a little while.

"Barry Bonds, well he gets good wood on this one, but unfortunately, (some players name) manages to squeeze it."
