          Re: Comic Book Fans....

I'm coming from a position of giving up all DC when Rebirth was announced, and being so bored with Marvel that the hope that the Civil War storyline will keep me reading (X-Men have somehow made 'Apocalypse Wars' boring).

I'm wary though. Rebirth is all Johns. Now it gets handed off and the quality of the DC books has been pretty bad for a pretty long while. Sure, Batman has gotten a lot of critical acclaim but I never felt like going back and catching up.

It's a great kickoff to a whole universe that I'm now more interested in, but I'm pessimistic on how much will actually stick and that I'll enjoy.

There's also like no books out for a week or two, think the first 'batch' of new titles is in 2 weeks, and next week we get Action Comics #900-something, introducing Super-Lex.

Turns out the new Captain America is...quite different. Haven't read it, but with what I've seen I'm pretty disappointed and IMO it deserves any backlash it receives.

I'm not too concerned, there's a cosmic cube involved, it won't last. Will read it today.

I will read the new Captain America book sometime tonight or tomorrow when I go through the Marvel books. I'm hoping I won't be totally lost as I haven't read anything in 4-5 months. I had to pass on most of the X-Books because of an event that going on. It looks like it's tied to the new movie as it involves Apocalypse.

Anywho, read Rebirth last night and I found it to be quite excellent. Of course, being Johns he has a massive hard on for the Flash characters so that was to be expected as the focal point of the book but all in all it serves as a great stepping on point to a new focus for DC. I wonder if the DC logo they used on the cover will be the new primary DC logo. I happen to like it and it's a call back to one of their older logos from way back in the day.

For what it's worth, the DC social media pages have changed their profile pictures to the new logo. Don't know if they're just doing it for the launch of Rebirth or if it's permanent.

That is the new logo and not just a Rebirth thing.

It's been awhile since I've really read anything, but I went ahead and picked up Rebirth 1. Haven't actually read it yet though.

It's definitely worth reading. It gets a bit overwrought and saccharine at points but I think it serves to heighten the drama and the story they're trying to tell. I'm still a little iffy on what they're shoehorning into the DC Universe but I have an open mind to it at present rather than slamming my head onto the desk like when I first heard about it.

Rebirth #1 was good, but I hope they reveal who this builder character is soon. I picked up the 4 #1s that came out today and will dig in to them tonight.

Edit: Read Batman Rebirth #1...meh...didn't really setup much, but Green Arrow #1 I really enjoyed. Onto Supes #1 and GL.

I will be perusing the DC titles tomorrow.

BTW my thoughts on the Captain America thing last week....Ehhhh I don't like it and hope it gets quickly retconned once they get it out of their system.
