Sony unveil pricing for Blu-Ray films

Not bad. I thought it would be in the $34.99 range.

Uh Oh, this has just opened a whole new dimension in this battle. If those players reduce in a timely manner, there might be a significant battle coming up. At least I would assume, but those players.......

Lol, I wouldn't pay $2.99 for any of those movies listed on that link.

Who picks the movies that release on the new format and why?

Also, this is Sony Pictures. So, we'll still see what other companies will charge, but they'll most likely follow Sony's lead.

Yeah I should've stated that. Other companies can charge more. This is just Sony Pictures.

Sony will sell new release movies for $23.95 while older titles will be sold for $17.95 - about the same price as DVD's were when they first hit the market in 1997.

Blu-ray movies should be available in early summer, with the first ones releasing in June.

Benjamin Feingold, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, told news group Reuters that it will be up to retail outlets to assign prices.
Okay, so what are they saying here? Sony will be selling them for $23.95/$17.95 to the stores and then the retailers are to base their price off of that?

In other words, is $23.95 the "List" price (supplier to retialer) or the "Retail" price (retailer to consumer/customer/you and me)?
