I think they took a big risk. Although, she probably wanted out because she's looking for bigger and better things.

Yeah, I found an article and it basically said she wanted out.

It seems that producers have long been struggling with Mischa’s apathy towards the show, and acting in general (it was earlier reported that her character’s recent substance-binge was an attempt to reverse-engineer Mischa into method-acting). Since Mischa doesn’t want to be around, and the ratings are struggling, rumor has it Marissa will meet a tragic demise, either as part of a season-ending cliffhanger, or possibly even BEFORE the season is completed. Whatever the case, our source says there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that Mischa will be a part of the show by this time next year.

I was shocked that she died, but the writing was on the wall when Marissa said she was moving in with her dad and her sister was moving in.

I also read that there will be one more shocker in the first episode of the next season.

I think Mischa's character dying was one of the worst kept secrets in the industry!

I read an article earlier in the week where they stated they taped 4 endings and the actors didn't even know which would air, but it seemed pretty clear.

Didn't know if I told you guys this but Cam Gigandet, the actor who plays Kevin Volchok, is a good friend of mine. He was my brothers like best friend when they were in HS together, so I know him pretty well.

First time I ever watched the OC was Cam's first episode. I watched until he was off, and then never really watched it again, but after he came back again, I have seen a show or two.
