Tech heads that know about video card trouble shooting.. HELP NEEDED!

i've had this GeForce FX 5700 Ultra for a couple of years now and out of the blue it started actin funny. Every now and then, around my pointer cursor, i'd see what looked like the matrix code and it would change colors dependin on what i scrolled over (mainly green or pink). Also, when i go to dxdiag, I try to do one of those Direct3D Accelerator tests and it gives me an error... but i can do direct draw with no problems. Now I can't tell if it's a hardware or software issue, because when i have nvidia drivers installed, my PC locks up the minute i log into my account. But when I don't have any video drivers installed, my PC doesn't lock up on me..

The green/pink matrix code comment tells me that you're chip is fried. I had a new card overheat and die and got the same effect.

If it's currently overheating and hasn't officially died yet, you could try to underclock the speeds of the card and see if that has any affect.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I went to hell and back with this video card, i don't wanna let it go yet


LOL i'm on a tight budget :-\ looks like i'm gonna have to get an extra cheap video card for the time being until DX10 comes out...
