Before you all grab pitchforks and torches, I'm the one who voted for Idol.

My wife and I avoid stuff like 24 and Lost on TV because we like to watch it on DVD.

Well, I'm not a fan of either...

But that is a really good idea. I hate watching a TV series, something one is dedicated to as 24 or Lost, with all the commercials, and the waiting in between weeks.

To be honest I think I have watched two episodes of Lost and never an episode of 24...probably missing out.

If you can avoid hearing about either show, which we've amazingly done this season, it's a pretty nice way to watch. Given that there's a cliffhanger basically at the end of every hour, I couldn't imagine waiting a whole week to see what happens next. On DVD, very often we'll be watching at like 2am and something amazing will happen, we'll look at each other and say, "Ok, one more episode..."

I've also noticed that if you strip away the commercials, the engagement to the characters and level of character development is greater. It feels more like a really long movie where you get to know all the characters in much deeper context than you're able to within a 2-hour movie. It's hard to explain, but having that seamless interaction with the show helps.

Lost but when they end up picking the winner I will probably switch it over for a minute or two.

              I choose choice:

Actually, I'm going to watch Mavs/Suns. American Idol is a pretty lame show, imo. Saw a few episodes of Lost, and it wasn't bad. But basketball beats them both.

                Awww....thats so cute Skerik...

Haha, but ya, I understand what you mean. There are a bunch of TV shows that have great character developments, or running jokes, that can't be appreciated unless you own the DVD. For example, Arrested Development, which I think is the funniest show ever on TV (over Seinfeld, Family Guy, etc), could never be appreciated when it was on the air. It would be on Tuesday night at 8 one week, the next week they wouldn't have it, the following week they would have two episodes back to back on Wednesday from 9-10, etc.

will tape Lost and flip channels between Yankees and Sabres game.

Don't need to watch American Idol till 9.55.
