Vancouver = 3rd best city in the world to live in

Zurich and Geneva are ranked number 1 and 2. American places are way down the list most likely because of terrorism and high crime rates.

I was a little bit surprised Calgary wasn't ranked higher but then I remember that place is just way too cold.

No place that close to the arctic circle should be ranked that high. Not to mention it's in Canada.

      Terrorism?

Even without 9/11 New York and D.C. wouldn't even have sniffed that list. I don't think terrorism plays a deciding factor for any American city on that list.

To each their own, there's no place I'd rather be than San Diego.

I've been around the world multiple times and there is no finer city than San Diego. Period.

Seattle made the list. Not bad.

“Economies in the developed world tend to be relatively stable overall. Fluctuations in the quality of living in these regions are usually driven by factors such as increased air pollution, crime rates and traffic congestion, or external events like terrorism, disease outbreaks or natural disasters,” said Mr. Parakatil.

Have you ever been to Vancouver?

What do you have against Canada?

I'd love to eventually, but my profession earns double here in the Beltway than it does in San Diego. We're talking from about $75k out there to about $140k here. You can see how it makes it kind of hard. Although all my family (and the wife's) is in SoCal.

Yup, that's the problem with living here. Lower pay, and high living expenses.

It's not that Vancouver is so bad, rather San Diego is that good. In every respect (except cost of living).

                          Weather: Perfect
                          Women: Perfect
                          Beaches: Very Good

It's got the perfect blend of beach life, college life, professional life, party life, and everything in between.

And it's a drivable distance to Mammoth or Big Bear if you want to ski. Vegas is also a fairly easy drive.

Nothing against Vancouver, I can't think of a place I'd rather be than SD.

Yeah, those are additional bennies that I forgot to mention. Even being close to Mexico for a weekend away isn't too bad.
