Father dies, Harry takes over...turns name to the Hobgoblin.

Well in the cartoon... weren't they both being bad guys at the same time?

I also thought I heard that he was going to be the Green Goblin again... I guess we shall see soon enough.

Yeah, appears I always had that one confused...could've sworn Harry took over as the green goblin, bu was called the hobgoblin...but appears it was Roderick Kingsley.

Marvel always seems to have different storylines running in multiple universes just for the simple fact of confusing the hell out of everyone.

FDM has learned that Topher Grace of That 70s Show will play the immortal VENOM in Sam Raimi's third Spiderman adaptation. We told you guys a few months back that "someone" has snagged the rights to the character of Venom off of New Line Cinema and it was reported a few days ago that Grace had been "bulking up"- so we decided it was time to put the pressure on. So there you have it VENOM! Now as for the other two stars listed above we've been told that Thomas Haden Church will in fact play SANDMAN and that James Franco will play HOBGOBLIN and not the Green Goblin II (like in the comics). No more info can be given at this time, but I've confirmed this with various sources and apparently it's quite well known.

Well, in the comics isn't both the Hobgoblin and Green Goblin just in masks?

I bet they would probably do something similar to what they did in the movie, with the Green Goblin. That like, metal suit with mask thing.

Probably will, but I think it'd be cool if they went with an ugly-*** cloth costume, but yeah thinking about it, I'm pretty sure it was a mask.

I was pretty upset that the Green Goblin wasn't clothed in his purple outfit in the first. So, I dunno if the Hobgoblin would rock his orange one.

And I also like the idea of it not being a metallic costume, but just a mask or whatever. But how would they explain that in Spiderman? Just not?

I've always assumed that Harry would end up as the Hobgoblin in the movie-verse instead of the second Green Goblin, just because its easier for an audience to accept. I think they'll go with an orange scheme but I wouldn't be surprised if his costume is very similar to the Green Goblin's from the first film, which would be a shame. I hated that costume.

And yes, Hobgoblin wore a mask in the comics (except for that period where he was possessed by a demon and wore no mask, that demonic entity later became the short-lived Demogoblin). And yes, Harry became the Hobgoblin in the Ultimate Spider-Man books.

I think they should be say he's wearing a mask for the film but instead of having Franco wear a mask they should just do heavy makeup with prosthetics. The Hobgoblin has a cool look to him and doesn't really need to be messed with (where as the Green Goblin wore a lot of purple and probably would have looked silly on the big screen to non-comic fans) as he has a Halloween theme about him. We'll see what happens though. Already I'm really concerned with the direction of this film as it seems like they are cramming too many characters into one movie. Hobgoblin can carry a movie himself, the Venom plot could span two films, and Sandman is no slouch either though is certainly the least complex of the three. I just feel like we're going to get too many undeveloped characters for the third film and its going to be a mess.
