I think my email account has been hacked, what do I do?
Yesterday I went to go check my yahoo email and It wouldn't work. It said I had the wrong password. I knew I had the password right, so I did the hint thing and now I see that it has changed the hint. So then I went to go check out myspace. I tried logging in there and that wasn't working either, it said my password was wrong. Then I tried checking the Allhiphop.com forums and it said my password was wrong there too. Keep in my mind all three of these have the same password, so I know I wasn't typing this wrong. Has this happened to anyone else before?Tags: None -

How do we know this is really you? -
Re: I think my email account has been hacked, what do I do?
Umm, sounds a little odd.
Do you have info to all those accounts in your Yahoo email? If not, a hacker isn't going to know to go to those sites to hack your account. Maybe it's your PC that got hacked?
Seriously, contact Yahoo and the admins of those boards and tell them what happened. Just make sure a key on your keyboard that you use in your password isn't broke or something simple like that.Comment

I have no clue why you'd lose access to 3 sites at once though, that sounds odd and not like you fell for a spoof website (which was my original guess)Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Man, I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully Yahoo will come through for you and the other things can get straightened out as well.
Like Mgoblue stated, it's very odd that you lost access to 3 sites at once. Even if you had account info to all 3 of those sites in your Yahoo email, I don't really see the point of a hacker going through and resetting the password to all those sites. Just seems like a waste of time to me.Comment

Re: I think my email account has been hacked, what do I do?
Originally posted by mgoblueyeah, i had a friend get a yahoo IM from someone with a "yahoo pictures" link that was a spoof of yahoo. She clicked it, it told her to log in, she did, and ther e were no pictures. Like 2 hours later her yahoo password was changed, and she had to go through days of talking to Yahoo tech support to get it changed back so she had access.
I guess with the amount of private info people keep in their email, hacking their email could possibly lead someone to a bank account # or credit card number etc..Comment

I was going to say you could have a keylogger... but I don't see the sense in hacking anything other than the email.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: I think my email account has been hacked, what do I do?
I'm pretty sure whoever may have hacked into your email account must of known you. What they did was probably hack into your email. Not litterally hack, but probably just guessed at your email password till they finally got it.
When they got your email, they prolly knew you had a myspace, which was linked up to your yahoo email. All you have to do is click on "forgot my password" and walllaaa!! Your myspace password was just emailed to you. Same thing for the allhiphop.com site. There must have been a piece of mail that stated you had an account to allhiphop.com therefore he/she was able to access it.
But since all 3 accounts had the same identical password, it probably wasnt hard for him/her to figure out to try the same password, instead of clickin on the "forgot your password" link..
Rule of thumb, always try to seperate your accounts with different passwords. Important sites such as Bank accounts, email, etc, should have different passwords for each site. Regular sites such as OS, allhiphop, myspace could all have the same password.
I honestly do think though that it was somebody you know. Unless somebody was really bored and needed something to do.Comment

The password challenge Question and Answer is an important security tool
for your Yahoo! account. For this reason, we apologize that we are
unable to update the Question and Answer or assist with access to an
account without first receiving the answer currently contained in your
account information.
i dunno what to do. this sucks.Comment
