oh, on bad beats, it's easier for people online to play poorly, but it's really all about the limit of the table. I can't sit and play 2-4 limit at the casino, it just drives me nuts. Half the people play with anything in their hands, and when enough people do that it turns the game more on luck's side. My friend swears at playing $2 no limit at the casino (or something similar)...bets start out low but you have the option to go all in (and usually you have 100-200 in chips), so you can actually bet right and make someone think hard about a decision.

Online is worse, from what i hear, but it's really more just an issue live and online with lower limits.

Online there are more bad beats for three main reasons that Ive got. First is pretty obvious, you see at least twice as many hands per hour and often multitable. Second is that the players are not as good as those that frequent real casinos, and by calling all-ins with gutshot straight draws more often, they are more likely to suck out. Along with that, there is the attitude that its not "real" money you're playing with, its money already out of your bank account represented by numbers on a screen. Its a lot easier to make a poor call when all you have to do is click the mouse than when you physically move chips into the pot. Doing this more often leads to more bad beats.

All that said, right now Im pissed as hell that some bastard reraised me before the flop and called my allin with ****in pocket 7s, then pulled the third 7 out of his *** on the river to beat my kings.

I agree with you, but people pull that crap online with no limit too. Almost no one folds pre-flop online (at least in the few games I've played), but in real life you're going to fold around 60% of the time or so.

Plus, I've noticed a lot of cheese with the cards that are dealt at times. There are way too many inside straights, full houses, etc. for me. I even had a timewhere a straight flush was dealt in the common cards! Twice!

The reason that so much crazy stuff happens online is that you see so many hands so fast.

Exactly. At a live game you may get around 30 hands/hour. Online you will probably see twice as many hands at one table, so when I play 4 tables at once it becomes 8x as likely to see everything.

Every now and then I think online poker is rigged.

It seems like your cold streak and bad beats always come after you withdraw money. It's a strange situation.

I've broken my fair share of random objects in my room after taking a bad beat online.

I haven't played in over three months though, maybe I'll get back into it over the summer.

I haven't played in probably about six months. Wow, thats amazing to consider when I use to play everyday.

Explanation: you typically withdraw money after a winning streak, since thats when there is some extra money. After a winning streak, variance dictates a losing streak is in the near future.

Variance shouldn't matter too much since poker is a game of skill.

Some people think that there are "rakers" or whatever they are called.

EI people who work for Pokerstars or whoever and cheat to win the tournaments then all of the winnings go to Pokerstars instead of another player.

As for the original poster, those are the people you WANT to play poker against. You will make money in the long run against them, well, assuming you aren't one of them in the first place and don't realize it.

As for your, "correct" play. You called an 8.5x raise with only AQo. Did you think he was bluffing? What was your reasoning for doing that? Not trying to trash you here, I'm just curious.

Keep in mind, even with your hand, you were only ~63% to win against him before the flop, and that's not knowing his hand. Believe it or not, with that hand, against one person, you have a better chance of winning against a random hand, then against he 84s.

As I said above, don't think I'm trashing your play. There are many factors I don't know, I just love talking poker and am curious as to why you made that play.

he was making great calls and reads before all the madness happend, the hand before he had a pair of aces and this bastard sucked out with K2 for trips on the river. he got mad, started cursing, called the dude a donk.. i knew he was on tilt and was probably going to do something dumb like go all in. I knew i had the best hand going in to that situation.

You should be happy your opponent is that bad. Tag him and always try to play at his table in the future. You will win with that hand about 2/3 of the time. I would much rather play with horrible players (who sometimes sucked out) than with good players who could outplay me.
