Re: Anyone going to see CARS?

I really didn't think it was a great movie. I thought it was supposed to be a comedy, but there wasn't a whole lot of funny parts in there IMO. However, I'm not saying it wasn't a good "movie," just not what they advertised it to be.

Re: Anyone going to see CARS?

I caved and saw it this afternoon. While not the best, I put it after "Incredibles", "Nemo", and "Monsters Inc." in the Pixar lexicon. The story was a bit predictable (anyone sensing "Doc Hollywood" inspiration) but the animation and voice acting again vaulted it WAY above the CG clones...and the previews of an additional two CG animated flicks, on top of "Shrek 3" and the next Pixar film "Ratatouille" is bordering on overkill (I like the latter, but the copycats are very uninspiring).

That "One Man Band" short was classic! I thought it was the best Pixar short ever, narrowly edging out the old man playing chess from "Monsters Inc."

*Another mention on the "review" is that I wasn't blown away like I was with "The Incredibles". In my opinion both had reasonably lackluster previews (what do I make of retired super heroes or talking cars?). Then again, my opinion might change come November with the DVD release and I have some repeated viewings.*

Not this guy. These CGI movies bore the **** out of me. THe Incredibles was the only one I really enjoyed.

I found THE INCREDIBLES to be the least entertaining out of all the PIXAR movies. It seemed more focused on the older kids with all the violence in it and while the premise was strong I felt they dropped the ball a little.

Still, it was a lot better then some other animation movies out there these days.

What!?!?!? No love for Toy Story? (part 3 is n the making)

Ill take my daughter to see this tomorrow more then likely, although she said she doesnt really want to. Toy Story, Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and Monsters INC are all good...as well as Bugs Life.

My favorite CGI is Shrek though. The first two are great and I cant wait for part 3 (yeah I know its no pixar)

To me, Pixar is the most orignal when it comes to their movies though. I think my favorite from them might be Monsters Inc though or Finding Nemo

I'm going to take my son and daughter tomorrow. My son keeps on asking when were going to see it, he's 2 1/2 years old and very excited.

I took my 10 year old niece to the Friday matinee, and she keeps on imitating the Southern accent of "Mater" the truck who became Lighting McQueen's "best friend".

Mater was the highlight of the film, the movie was not what I expected, kinda boring, I fell asleep on it for a few minutes, my 6 year old loved it however.

Was it more of a kiddie movie, or does it have aspects that adults will enjoy as well ala Shrek?

Does it matter? If a movie is good, it doesn't matter what demographic it was intended for. Look at the Harry Potter series for a perfect example of this. The first two books were very much intended to be solely children's books, but were also greatly accepted amongst age groups far outside of that demo.

That being said, I would imagine it has the same appeal as every other Pixar movie. Yes, it is an animated movie that has a good meaning, but there is also depth and subtleties which don't limit the movie to being enjoyed only by those under twelve years old.

Yeah it has it share of hidden jokes for adults and car fans, the NASCAR crowd will get the most out of it, as it has a couple of NASCAR related cameos.

Definitely, if anyone has listened to Car Talk on NPR, the two brothers make a cameo. I for one really enjoyed this movie and I'll probably see it again.
