Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
cause Marantz, while good, is overpriced, & the majority don't want to spend 2,000 on a reciver..Besides Outlaw makes much better recievers for the price.Originally posted by fishepaRedskins Fan. The 82 Smurfs will never die. 83/88/92 NFL world champions!!

Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
ODogg, if you have a good chunk of change to spend on one and are set on getting one with HDMI inputs, I would consider waiting a bit. There are receivers with HDMI on the market, but the inputs are the 1.1 variety. The receiver manufacturers are in a bit of a holding pattern right now, because they are waiting for the specs for HDMI 1.3 to be finalized. 1.3 will open up a lot more sound options, such as Dolby True HD or whatever it's called.
If you want the best HDMI, wait for that. If you want to just get a 1.1 unit, I would still wait, because when the ones with 1.3 come out, the prices on the "old" ones will drop quite a bit.Comment

Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
Yeah i'm gonna wait I think. I'm about to drop $3k on a big screen TV so my wallet will mandate I wait till at least next year probably, as I don't enjoy going around being a broke@ss. I have a Kenwood $700 set right (which I got for $480 at best buy on open box special) now that is 5.1 and it's good enough for me, i'd just like the HDMI switch and possibly adding THX and getting 7.1. So I'll probably be looking to upgrade this around tax time of next year when I get my taxes back.Originally posted by SportsorDeathODogg, if you have a good chunk of change to spend on one and are set on getting one with HDMI inputs, I would consider waiting a bit. Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
The proccessing/scallers on Recivers a grand & under are subpar, unless you are willing to spend major money..Your DVD/TV will do a much better job..But it's good For scalling VHS to 480p..& don't get so hung on on waiting for 1.3 specs..All HDMI does is just replace extra wires..Unless there is a big sound improvment which I doubt..Originally posted by ODoggYeah i'm gonna wait I think. Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
CC still sells very god receivers like the Okyno (spelling) Line. You could get a very good reciever for 400.00..Originally posted by ODoggoh ok, i'm a best buy/circuit city guy so i'm not that hardcore at this stuff.Redskins Fan. The 82 Smurfs will never die. 83/88/92 NFL world champions!!

Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
Yeah that's where I was looking at some of the THX receivers they had setup over here. The CC here in Richmond is amazing since this is where the CC's all started I guess.Originally posted by koolbubbaiceCC still sells very god receivers like the Okyno (spelling) Line. Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
My reciever is pretty sweet..I'm using it as my media hub..Plugged a HDMI cable to monitor out on my Yamaha, to the TV..Then plugged my 360 & DVD player into the component jacks on my reciever. So technically I'm playing games in HDMI I think..Still not pure, since there a analog to Digial conversion..But I do notice the colors on the Madden demo, was very rich, & My color was turned down very low..& things seem to look a bit sharper..Not a huge difference, but subtle..& the PQ on my DVDS look a bit sharper, then my upconverting player..Originally posted by ODoggYeah that's where I was looking at some of the THX receivers they had setup over here. Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
so receivers are basically for speaker support.. you look for the best that can handle the most watts? etc.
I dont see much reason for a receiver, other than that. inform me, if im wrongComment

Re: what kind of reciever do you have?
Well a receiver is the heart of the sound system, you can have the best speakers in the world but if your receiver is garbage then your system is garbage. Of anything in a sound system the receiver is what should receive the most attention when you are putting together a solid system. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrongOriginally posted by RubenDouglasso receivers are basically for speaker support.. you look for the best that can handle the most watts? etc.

It's not about the watts..It's about how clean the sound is..I think I could hear a ant fart with these puppies..Originally posted by RubenDouglasso receivers are basically for speaker support.. you look for the best that can handle the most watts? etc.
