    The Receiving End of Sirens

Diesel had made a thread about them last year (June 2005 Thread), but since it can't be bumped (from EE), I figured I'd make a new thread.

I've been listening to them for the last 8 months, but I'd say within the last month or so, it's basically been nonstop.

These guys are absolutely incredible. They are brilliant, from the instruments to the lyrics. Their lyrics have more depth than ANY band that's come out in last decade IMO. Their first single, "Planning a Prison Break" doesn't sound like anything special by the title, but it goes so much deeper than that. All of their lyrics do. The thought that went into this album boggles my mind.

In my mind, Between The Heart And The Synapse might be one of my ALL-TIME favorite CDs.

Recently, they lost Casey Crescenzo who did vocals, keyboards, sequencing, and additional guitar work but hopefully that won't affect them too greatly for their next album.

Any other fans out there? Also, I beg of you....give these guys a listen, especially if you put any value into lyrics whatsoever. I'd love to chat it up about what their songs mean.

"Planning a Prison Break", "The Evidence" and "This Armistice"

"Broadcast Quality", "The War of All Against All", "...Then I Defy You, Stars" and "Flee The Factory"

It's not bad, but sounds a lot like many other groups out there today.

Ah, those are good but not my two favorites.

Listen to "Dead Men Tell No Tales"...

          I'll be the salt that resides from the water that drains from your eyes;
The sting that burns your open wounds.
I'll flood the ground. I swear on your grave, I'll bury this town,
But not for me, no never for me.

We have tested the buoyancy of loyalty.
You left our lungs for canteens.
You left our ankles for anchors.
We thought your arms were tied behind your back,
But elastic bands tied your hands.
          You swim with reckless abandon.

          Abandon ship! Mayday! Mayday!
          Swim toward shore!
          Our captain is overboard!
He punctured holes in the floorboards
To flood the bow just in time to bow out.
          He's over bored and overboard.

Left in the wake, we man our own driftwood orphanage,
          A second-hand sailor's fleet to flee.
But in the wake, we man our own driftwood orphanage.
Captain is over bored and overboard.
          Captain is calling.

And there's nothing you can do when water ruins the maps we drew.
Mayday! Mayday! Save us from this drowning vessel!

          --------------------------

This song just sounds like a normal song, but actually has tons of meaning. It's about when Ben,their first lead singer, left the band because he didn't want to take it as serious as the rest of the members. He just wanted it to kinda be a goof off band, and abandoned them when they were trying to make it big.

Yeah....that's how good these guys are.

Never really got that into them.

Solid band, but, I just listen to different stuff these days.

Sounded like everything else but with 10% more double bass to me.
