    *~*~*Official*~*~* Computer Problems Thread

I have a freaking problem that I can't seem to fix. Well, we have an 8300 Dimension desktop from Dell. There is something wrong with my computer resolution however. I can't adjust it. The reason being that everytime I try to go into the display icon in the control panel, there aren't any tabs there. The only thing that shows is the scoll thing that allows me to save my setting theme. I started having this problem when I first downloaded media connect for XBOX 360/PC connection. For some reason, it just messed up right now. I can't figure out what to do. I'm tempted to reinstall the OS but there are too many documents on here that are important. Can I get some help? Holler at me somehow. Tell me what I have to do to improve the resolution. The freaking icons on the desktop are so big and ugly. HELP!!

By the way, thought I'd start another official thread since I see more and more people on here with problems with their PC.

If it's XP: Are you logged in with Administrator abilities?

I am logged in with the owner. The administrator is logged in when I press one of the F buttons I believe. Usually need it only to make those small fixes.

Right click your desktop, select properties. From there select the Settings tab, then change your resolution.

If its not there for some reason (i dont see why it wouldnt be) I suggest that you upgrade your video drivers.

What happens when you right click on the desktop and choose Properties? Do you still get no Display window? What kind of video card do you have?

Edit: Whoops. Shug, looks like we were thinking alike. lol

It's all good. Everything that can be thought of can be dropped on here. It's good to double and triple take. I'm still stuck. Luckily I went to Dell and they updated my screen resolution, but it still sucks a bit. I might have to reinstall my OS unfortunately. I have nothing on this computer that I care for but the rest of my family does. They have songs and a few documents. I could care less about the songs. It's not mines so I'm done with it. I'll just end up leaving it alone and then suggesting the reinstall option to my family. I'd definitely like to try and play some computer games on here. We'll see how it goes though. Thanks for the help.

why not just burn everything on 1 or 2 cd's. I would think that you would have a cd-burner. Pop a couple in, and you'll be able to save anything.
