what do you guys think about this digital camera?

My mom's bday was on the 24th of may and i didnt have a chance to get her anything then and for mothersday. i think im gonna go ahead and buy her this camera tomrrow after i deposit my check.

let me know what you guys think or if you have other suggestions. i also wouldnt mind cheaper alternatives. i like the lcd size and she doesnt need a big time optical zoom but wanted to make sure the camera i got had it. she was looking at one that only had digi zoom and that suxorz.

im really interested in cheaper alternatives or if you find this camera cheaper elsewhere. i usually go to newegg first because i trust them and the shipping is fast because they are in cali.

Its not hte same camera, its apparently the updated version of the camera you're looking at but it appears to have the same features.

I ordered the camera I have now from prestige camera. Theyre definitely cheaper than anything else out there for cameras, the only thing is, dont buy into their sales pitches. After I ordered my camera, I received an email saying that I have to give "such and such" a call to complete the order because they need to verify my address info.

When I called, he only asked like 1-2 questions about my actual address, etc. and then went into his hard sales pitch for accessories. All of their accessories are like 2x normal retail so thats where they'll get you. Also, notice that youre camera accepts AA batteries, so does mine; however, the guy tried to tell me that regular AAs wouldnt work and I need to buy a specific battery and charger and he'd sell it to me for half of what they normally sell them for. Luckily I didnt buy into any of the sales pitches and neither should you. If he says "you need this" just say I'll pick it up somewhere here in town or something.

Anyway, good luck... all in all, its a little frustrating going through that mess, but hey, its $55 cheaper so to me its worth it.

I bought a Creative Zen Xtra MP3 player from newegg.com about 2 1/2 years ago, and the service and communication were phenomenal. Don't hesitate to order from newegg.com if this is the camera and price you want.

Newegg is great, dont get me wrong, I use them for anything computer related and they beat even corporate CDW prices. However, when it comes to digital camera prices, theyre not that special. For a long time I was looking at a particular camera. Newegg carried it at one price consistently, but it was the same price that Best Buy would regularly offer as their sale price.

oh BTW......i didnt need convincing on newegg. ive been using them for years. they own for all things computers. not always the cheapest price but close but i think its worth an extra few dollars for peace of mind.

the title of the camera says it has 3x optical but the specs say it has no optical zoom. i want a camera with optical zoom. i knew it was too good to be true.

yeah, don't skimp and leave out optical zoom...I'm not a camera guy, but I do know that optical zoom is key, the digital is just like zooming in on Photoshop and is crappy. You should be able to find a good camera for her in that price range, assuming she's not like my photographer hobbiest friend who buys expensive SLR stuff I'd have no clue how to use properly

i found one. the c533 has optical. still $20 cheaper so that is still good.

i want an slr but mainly to take some awesome pictures while at dodger and trojan games. of course i would look like a total jacka$$ sitting in the stands with a big a$$ camera and a 10 foot lens.

are you sure they even will let you take it into the stadium? my friend wasn't allowed to take his camera into the shoe when we went to a game last fall. he had to walk 5 miles back to the car heh.
