    Ad-Aware vs Spydoctor vs Spybot

Not sure why people say this is the best spyware removal program. I've scanned with Spybot and Spyware Doctor and it always removes 50-80% more of the spyware on my computer than Ad-Aware does.

The only reasons I dislike Doctor and Spybot are because their scans are as slow as turtles.

    Thoughts?

What I usually do is run both Ad-Aware and Spybot. Both remove things the other doesn't detect so they kind of go well together. Never used Spyware Doctor.

I think spyware doctor scans the deepest and best but unfortunately it now costs money to use it. Windows defender by microsoft is alright as is ad-aware and spybot. I use spyware blaster as well. It prevents certain websites from using tracking cookies and what not. I use them all and do a scan about once a week with different ones. Computer has been running pretty smooth lately with only a couple of cookies found.

Is there a free Spybot version?

spyware doctor is free to scan but to remove the actual threats you have to buy a subscription. Unless you have an older version.

"Note: This time-unlimited trial version does not remove existing threats during scans, but real-time detection and removal of incoming threats is enabled."

Fight malware and protect your privacy with security software for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. An antivirus app is a great place to start, but you should also look at VPNs for more private Web browsing, file encryption, secure messaging, password managers, and more.

Spybot, spyware blaster, ad-aware...are all free. I'm sure you can get them at download.com
