Jmood, I didn't try to "argue", I simply stated my position, and backed it up with reasoning. The same thing I'm doing here. What I posted still does not deny that different people have different tastes, it just outlines the argument for the people who don't like her, not positioning itself as dogmatic truth. You're simply interjecting something that isn't there. If you read more carefully, you'd see that I never contradicted my earlier stance.

The "ethnic" element of what you said is even funnier, not only because the excerpt I posted speaks specifically to that, but also because I didn't "argue" anything, simply pointed out that that taste was far less prevalent(as the results bore out).

Of course, I shouldn't be surprised that responders are either asserting Jessica's hotness and disagreeing with me, or undermining the worth of the discussion altogether. All while ignoring the most interesting part of the excerpt(one that doesn't concern itself with "hot or not"), the argument that the reason that Alba is so widely appealing has a psychological and unconscious component related to her ethnic ambiguity. Oh well.

Has nothing to do with the internet, I have said the same things to my buddies in person. Guys nitpick the chicks that our buddies hook up with, guys nitpick girls at the mall(younger) or bar or club(older), so what's different about this?

If anything, these "dime pieces" should be held up to even MORE scrutiny, because they have the full weight of professional make-up artists, hairstylists, light technicians, cinematographers, photographers, photo retouchers, nutritionists and trainers at their disposal, not to mention the psychological impact of being a celebrity. All of which combine to make them seem "hotter" than they really are. And I say this as someone who buys into it, like we all do to a degree. But to say that these women are beyond reproach is laughable. She IS overrated, in my opinion(sometimes you gotta spell it out for the readers...and being implicit or typing "IMO" isn't enough, I guess) and I'm using the Hollywood scale.

Of course you can't acknowledge the subconscious elements working on you to form that opinion. If you were aware of them, they would be conscious. That's the point.
