If my package is shipping from here to here...

I hate to make a thread like this, but I cant hold back my excitement for my new MacBook to come in.

But if I have a package shipping via FedEx from China, most likely sometime today, weighing in at 4.2 kgs, how long do you think it will take for it to make it to good ol' Pennsylvania?

By the way, Apple has a great deal for college students. Buy any Mac and you get not only the education discount, but also a free 2gig Ipod Nano... Or 179$ off any other Ipod, both via mail-in rebate.

I got the white MacBook 2.0 GHz processor and Microsoft Office for Mac... I'm pretty pumped.

You should be pumped-they're nice AND expensive. Did you add some frills and memory or pretty much went with the base unit?

Congrats... I'm getting ready to splurge for the MacBook Pro! As far as shipping, I'd say 3-4 days from China... and 2-3 more to you. I don't know, that's just a guess. I think I'm going to opt for the 30GB iPod for only $90 after rebates... that's an awesome deal. And for students, the computers themselves are at a pretty decent discount.

I just went with the base unit... I dont need much... just for use at college. I really wanted to go with a MacBook Pro, but that's too much right now. I'll get that in 2 or 3 years if I really need it.

I just need a good word processor, good presentation program, and the ability to go online to research and stuff... nothing major.

I haven't worked with a Mac in years, so I'm excited to get to learn the new system I hear so much praise about.

All you need is a regular MacBook. Hope you get it soon.

I am also buying a Macbook pretty excited for it, just a couple more weeks of work till I'll have the money. I also need a printer and apple has a 100$ rebate for many of their printers when you buy it with a new comp. Anyone know if you can use both the printer rebate as well as the Ipod rebate since I'm also a student. I'm definetley getting the printer, and I'm pretty sure the rebate requires you to send in the UPC code from the comp box so I'm wondering if the Ipod rebate is the same way in which case I probably won't be able to take advantage of it.

I bought a laptop battery from China due to it being very, very cheap. It took it almost 2 weeks to get here. What took so long was the package to clear customs. So I'd expect your Mac to take atleast a week via FedEX. Congrats on the purchase by the way, you're going to love it.

When I bought mine I didn't see anything about a printer rebate :/

                    RubenDouglas,
It's not a huge discount... I got 100$ off my MacBook... I think some of the MB Pros might have like 200$ off. But add to that the 179$ mail in rebate on the Ipod and that's close to 300$ savings.

I'm not sure how they would know you were a student... if I remember right, I had to log in with my PSU web name and password on a PSU site to get through to the Apple Education Computer Store.

I know they have a K-12 option and a higher education option... I'm not sure what is involved in the K-12 and I'm also not sure if all colleges and universities are available in the higher education option.

It's not advertised really, but if you look at the printers on the apple site it'll say in the printer description that you get 100$ rebate if you buy it with a new comp.

Ya... I see that now... it's too late though, they have to be on the same reciept. Oh well.

I have been thinking about something though:

Will I be able to get all my music from my PC to my Mac? If so, how will I go about that? Can I just throw the files on my Ipod, using it as an external harddrive, and just transfer them over? Or is this a more complicated task?

If you buy a new MacBook, you get either a 4GB Nano for free, or a 30GB for $90, or 60GB for $150 I think... I opted for the 30GB for $90
