How to Stream WM Videos in Firefox
Every time I try to watch a Windows Media Video in Firefox, I get the green puzzle piece icon that says I don't have the plugins for it. But then Firefox can't find the plugins I need.
I have the latest version of Windows Media, so how do I get it to work in Firefox?Tags: None -

I have this problem too, and haven't had a clue how to fix it. -
Re: How to Stream WM Videos in Firefox
I switch to an IE tab, but I don't have to do that too often.

Yea, I use the IE tab too, but I freaking hate having to do it every time I want to watch a video.
I know someone around here knows, we've got some Firefox experts. Joeboo? someone else?Comment

Like the others have said, I use IE Tab. I hate it, but it's the only thing that I have found that works. If anyone else has a better solution, post it.

WM files work for me, but I really don't know what I did to get it that way.Originally posted by heelsman22I know someone around here knows, we've got some Firefox experts. Joeboo? someone else?
Did you try installing WM 10.0 from Microsoft's site? I also ran across this info off of FF's support site:
Installing the ActiveX Plugin- The Windows Media Player plugin must be installed and working for this to work. Check that the plugin is installed and functioning correctly before proceeding: Checking Windows Media Player plugin installation. (If WM 9 or 10 is installed, you should be fine)
- Depending on which version of Firefox you use, right-click the relevant link and save it to your desktop:
- Firefox 1.0, 1.0.1, or 1.0.2: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-10.xpi
- Firefox 1.0.3: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-103-2.xpi
- Firefox 1.0.4, or 1.0.5: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-104.xpi
- Firefox 1.0.6: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-106.xpi
- Firefox 1.0.7, 1.0.8: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-107.xpi
- Firefox 1.5 to 1.5.0.4: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozactivex-ff-15.xpi *The Firefox 1.5 plugin is a test version - it is not known to be problem-free yet.
- Open Firefox, then drag the .xpi file you just downloaded into the Firefox window.
The plugin will appear in the Extensions window while installing, but not once installation is complete. This is normal - even though it installs the same way, this is not an extension and so will not be listed in the Extensions window.. - When the installation is complete, restart Firefox
If this doesn't work, post the WM file that's not working for you. I can try some stuff later today and see if I can get it to work.Comment

Using the .xpi file worked perfectly, thanks Joeboo.Comment

Unfortunately....the plugin didn't work for me for some reason, but there is no specific file I'm trying to load, just all across the internet.Comment

I have a firefox extention that's called lauchy. basically, you right click a link and go down to lauchy and put the cursor on the media and click and the video will stream.follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/eton_riflesComment
