Logitech Harmony 360 Universal Remote

I just picked this thing up, and I have to say it's amazing. It now takes place of the 5 remotes that I've been using for my TV, DVD player, A/V Receiver, Comcast DVR, CD Player, and is fully functional with the XBOX 360. Set-up is relatively easy. Plug in remote to CPU via USB cord. Upload information for all components (TV, DVD Player, DVR, etc.).

I'd say the reason I picked it up is because of the MACROS or ACTIVITY function which allows you to set-up each activity.

Example: To watch TV - I just press WATCH TV and the remote

(1) TURNS ON TV
(2) SETS TV to VIDEO 5
(3) TURNS ON COMCAST DVR

remote than proceeds to function as DVR remote.

if I then decide to watch a DVD - I press Watch a DVD and the remote

(1) TURNS OFF COMCAST DVR
(2) SETS TV to VIDEO 6
(3) TURNS ON DVD PLAYER
(4) TURNS ON A/V RECEIVER
(5) SETS A/V RECEIVER to DVD

remote than proceeds to function as DVD remote and A/V remote for volume.

The only thing I'd change besides the price (a bit pricey retailing at $129.99 - although I bought mine for about $100 on buy.com) is the number buttons as they seem a bit too small and/or too close together. But other than that, if anyone is looking for an excellent universal remote, I would recommend this one.

I got the $99 one, forgot what it is called, but it works with the xbox 360 also. I love the thing. I like only using 1 remote to do everything, plus no need to get up and turn the 360 on.

Yep, a universal remote with macro functionality is the way to go.

I bought a Home Theater MX-500 about 2 years ago and love it. Although the pretty color screen of the Logitech Harmony 880 has me intrigued. Of course, I can't see myself spending close to $500 on 2 remotes so the pretty color screen's going to have to wait!

I have a Logitech one but it's not the xbox one but just like it.....anyway, it is very wife friendly. I have mine controlling:




2 TV's
1 VCR
2 DVD Players
2 Satellite Receivers
Xbox 360
1 Surround sound receiver

Works like a charm.

I've always been tempted to pick up a nice programmable remote, but they're so pricey for a good one I haven't pulled the trigger. I'd need one that you can teach from other remotes (my reciever isn't commonly found on the remote code lists). I want one, but is it worth it right now when i can just deal with a few remotes?

you program these with your computer. hooks up to a usb port. All you do is put in the name and model @# of all your equipment and answer some questions and it programs everything for you.


Edit: the 360 one can be had on ebay for $69.99. Not bad at all.

It can learn commands mgo.

I like the activity set up too. I have different ones for watching tv and watching tv with reciever and playing xbox and playing xbox with receiver for the times I don't want surround sound. Very easy and intuitive, and like someone else said, very wife friendly.

can it work on Mac's..or does it have to be PC. I thought I read somewhere you can only use internet explorer.

Not sure about the other Harmony remotes, but the Logitech 360 version is Mac compatible.

Have the 880 and love it. Paid $120 after mail in rebate they had going for awhile from ecost.com. Oh, and I'm using it on a Mac with Safari, and it works great, to the other poster who wondered if Harmony worked with Macs.
