Re: Saw 3
Don't just read the back of a cover of one of these movies to get what the REAL story behind this is about. But, you'll understand more if you see the second one. Without giving any spoilers to either of them, I'll try the best that I can:Originally posted by SoMiss2000never saw either movie, what are they about?
Imagine this: You wake up from an unconscious state, not having known how you got there. You're feeling pain in your neck, as if a snake has bit all around the front of it. Screaming for help as your wrists are also locked up (as you're standing, locked up above on a platform), a T.V. turns on in front of you with an evil doll on it. It speaks...
"Hello. I want to play a game...
"Through out your life, you have left those around you hanging from a thread of lies. But tonight, you will hang from one of mine. Right now, your neck is tightly wrapped with razor-wire. Think of it like... a "noose". Your goal is to remove the wire. But in order to do that, you must also remove the lock around your wrists... (which are sealed with a large combination padlock). Look around you, on the wallls all around the room. There are numbers inked in red paint everywhere. The combination to the lock, is somewhere on these walls.
"I'd make haste if I were you. The platform on which you are standing is hooked into a spring timer... when the timer goes off, you will be given two minutes to escape, or you will "lose". Oh.... and you really should be careful with that lock on your wrists. It may not be as safe as it looks (as there are rows of metal spikes inside the linings of the lock).
"Remember... no pain, no gain. Hahahaha."
Now, doesn't that sound great? Saw II really tries to play those kinds of games more and more (though with a little less description), and Saw is a lot more of the games, but with a little deeper meaning in them. You really understand that this movie has a villain much like that of Phone Booth or Se7en (in that they have only committed moral sins, rather than actual crimes). The only thing about Saw is that the "killer" (who technically never has killed anyone) is putting them in specific traps because he wants them to fight for survival. You must understand that he doesn't want them to die... it's all to test the fabric of human nature, and their survival instinct.
In short... if you die, you probably killed yourself. It's a very smart movie in so many ways, but it's just hidden behind what has become a gorefest series (which is one thing I don't want it to turn out to be, which is why I made the Hostel reference earlier).
If you haven't seen the first two yet, I'd advise that you see them soon. They are very great horror movies, especially with the budget and time constraints they've had.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
