    Onkyo HT-S990THX...first THX certified HTIB

Don't know if anyone's interested in this, but I just saw the news of this new Onkyo Home Theater with THX certification and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are. I'm looking to upgrade my audio system later this year to pair with my SXRD and having a THX certified system at around a grand seems like a great deal. I'm only in an apartment (and will likely move into a condo or house later this year) so I don't need room shakers. Thoughts or reviews?

*EDIT: Added a more detailed link.*

If you dont need a room shaker, stay away from Onkyo's becaue those systems are high powered

Yeah, my roomate and I just got the 7.1 system last week. It is crazy loud, and whoever talked about rooms shaking, yes indeed. I can't wait for football season. We also have a Samsung 61" DLP HDTV. Our basement is coming along nicely!

I had a bad experience with Onkyo, and will never buy again.

You may be the only person I've ever heard say they had a bad experience with Onkyo.

I'm going to wait on some impressions on this sytem first, but I've heard nothing but good things about Onkyo. The room shaking is daunting, but with a calibrated audio system it shouldn't be much of a problem. I've also read good things about 7.1 (more difference then one would expect).

My wife will hate me of course, but come on...you don't invest in a high priced SXRD and not get a quality audio system with it. I have a pretty good Sony Dream system now, but this looks too good to pass up (and I'm not real big on the seperate components...since the cost will be higher and I get "upgrade-itis" every couple years).

It sounded great. It had a great many features. The one time I turned the volume up above 5, which was not even that loud, the breaker blew in the unit. One call to Onkyo and another to a certified repair shop, and the thing was going to cost me more than it was worth to me to have it "reset" or something like that. People do need to keep in mind that this is one experience with one product, though. I won't ever dog the company, because the quality of sound was superb.
