Great movie. It took some convincing from my girl to watch it, not because of "machoness", just that I wasn't very interested in it before. But after I saw it, I went out and bought myself a copy on DVD. It's a great love story, and what's wrong with that? No reason for people to be macho and call "chick" flicks or love stories "gay".

nothing wrong with liking chick flicks. honestly, nothing wrong with watching it alone. it's gay when you compare two chick flicks and have other dudes either affirm or contradict that opinion. this thread has become one big circle jerk... but to each his own.
I was kidding around. The Notebook was a good movie, I just thought there was more chemistry between the "older" versions of the lovers, played by James Garner and Gena Rowlands. The ending was very emotional.
Contact me when I start caring about what a bunch of people on a messageboard thinks.
The bottom line is if it's a good movie I don't care if it's a "chick flick" or an action flick, it's worth watching. I enjoyed "The Notebook" a lot more than "Superman Returns" and the blockbuster Pirate movie. At least your honest. I watched "Providence" for three years but I'd never admit it to anyone....OOPS!!
Dawson's Creek is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, television show of all-time and it really doesn't bother me if people know about it.
A friend of mine watched every episode of that with his wife and gets kidded about it all the time, like I get it about Providence-but it's all in fun-hey, Tom Cruise must have liked the show too, right?
I had to watch it with my ex-girlfriend after she had minor heart surgery, that's pretty much the only way she'd get me to watch it. It was Christmas vacation and I didn't relaly pay attention to it much, but I remember the jist of it and bits and pieces. I seem to remember some good acting, but boring movie. I honestly would ballz up and see it again but don't like the ex so don't like the movie. I did like Save the Last Dance however...
I saw The Notebook because so many people (guys and girls) that I knew kept telling me how great it was and how they cried at the end and how I just HAD to see it.
So one day I caught it onDemand...
I thought it was horribly overrated. I enjoy all kinds of movies and typically like chick flicks, but I can not say this is one of my favorites.

That's very on point with my thoughts about the movie. It just didn't do anything for me at all. But, A Walk To Remember? Shane West & Mandy Moore brought that heat.

That's just how things are. I have every episode of the series either on my computer or DVD sets and I have no shame in that whatsoever.
