    ipod files transfer question

I am getting a school-instituted laptop from Villanova University and was wondering if you can get some sort of program that transfers the files from your ipod to a fresh itunes account on the laptop. It would be so much more convenient than having to come home whenever i want to update my ipod, since i'll be living on campus.

Also, does anyone know if colleges can monitor your actions, such as if you download music for free or trade cds over AIM file transfer?

    Re: ipod files transfer question

I don't know about the iPod question (I'm pretty sure there is third party software available that transfers files from your iPod to iTunes - check download.com) but yes, universities can monitor anything you do online (even AIM conversations). Whether they do or not depends on the university. Most P2P programs are blocked out anyways. On the campus I attended a student had a server set-up for a P2P program that existed only on-campus and as far as I know he was never caught, so I don't think they monitored stuff heavily on that particular campus.
