Audioslave - Revelations

Due out September 5th. Anyone else looking forward to this release? Tom Morello has described their new sound as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire." Judging by the first single off the CD, "Original Fire," they're gravitating more towards a rock sound than a hard rock sound, with plenty of funk in the mix.

I didn't think much of Audioslave's first CD, mostly because I was comparing them to Soundgarden and RATM. But I really liked their second effort and I'm really curious to see what they bring to the table with this CD. But if the first single is any indication, I'm really liking their sound these days.

Also, people have talked about Cornell's voice....I know it's not what it used to be, but it sounds pretty good to me on the new single. Which, btw, you can listen to at www.audioslave.com.

IMO, their second album sucked ***. Their debut was much much better.

I'm a big fan of the second album. I didn't even know they had a new one coming. I'm really excited for it.

This new song is great. Yes, to me their second album felt like an extension of their first.

I haven't been able to care about Audioslave since the original Civilian demos leaked. Somehow, that unmastered collection managed to be better than both studio albums.

Yeah, I dig Audioslave. At first I was disappointed by Out of Exile, but after a while I think my expectations were too high. I perfer it to the S/T.

I'm looking forward to this album, sounds like a pretty cool different sound.

Hopefully T-Cromm does a little more, he layed down a nice line on the single.

Being a fan of Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine, I must say that Audioslave might be the worst music I've heard in a long time.

My bad, what I saw was just the single labelled as the full album. Not having that much interest in it, I didn't think to check the file size. Sorry about that.

Even better news; Chris Cornell hopes to go into the studio to start recording material for his second solo album by the end of Summer.

I like the new single, it does have a hint of Eart, Wind, & Fire flavor to it and the rhythm section sounds the best they have sounded since RATM, IMO. The production is great. Its not polished or over-produced like Out of Exile was, it has a hard/rawness to it that sounds like their debut album. Overall, it has me interested in the new album, but I'd be lying to myself if I thought this album was going to be anything more than another arena rock album.

On my few listens to their debut I was pretty disappointed, the second album was good, but nothing great. Hopefully they keep growing into a band and this album surpasses the previous two.

And yes, Cornell recording solo material is much better news than a new Audioslave, "Euphoria Morning" is great.
