For those of you who don't remember Jack's story from S1, let's refresh you.

He tells Kate about his first spinal surgery. He was operating on a 16 year old girl. Everything was going fine. He was closing her up, and sliced (on accident) the bottom of her spine where all the nerves come together. He tells Kate how he let fear in himself, for just 5 seconds. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. And then went back to work. She ended up being fine.

Now, how does this pertain to Ben's spinal surgery and the current situation?

I didn't think it was all that great to be honest. Certainly not for an episode designed to be a cliffhanger to keep viewers interested for a 3 month hiatus.
I felt the story really didn't progress at all.

          ***Spoilers***

When Locke saw that scripture on Echo's stick ("Look North with your eyes" - or however it was phrased) I'm going to be pissed if it ends up giving Locke the idea to climb a tall hill or mountain and then he discovers the 'other' Island.
If that happens I'm done with this show. These jackasses have been on the island for ove 2 months and nobody had the idea to climb up to take a look at their surroundings?
A local radio show said that Lost has lost (no pun intended) 12% of it's viewership this season. In fact, it wasn't even the #1 show in it's time slot last week (Criminal Minds was). I hope this tells the producers that they need to start advancing the story of THE ISLAND and how these people got there and some of the strange things going. I'm tired of this stupid war with the Others.

I personally thought it, like the last 5 or so episodes, have stunk it up. The first 2 seasons were amazing, but this one leaves us with nothing to long for. So many questions were raised before, so many plot twists and exploration, and now it seems they are going on gimmicks rather than trying to advance the plot anymore. If you watched the first episode of the season, then you are pretty much caught up so far: they are captured, and kate loves sawyer. Thats about all we have seen. The people left on the other island are pretty much left out of the story now, excpet for a few cut scenes, and now seems to just rely on the love connection between kate and sawyer to fill up the 40 some minutes of TV.

The biggest issue right now, if you watch season 1 and 2, there are so many things that were just completely never answered or brought up again. Like, the others walking around with Walt's Teddy bear, or what they wanted with him in the first place..stuff like that... we'll never get those answers. The numbers, forget about it IMO.

Extreme, are we sure that teddy bear was Walt's? It could have been one of the children's from the tail-section that the Others took. I believe one of them had a teddy bear.

Of course they leave you with a cliffhanger til February.

If you've liked the season so far, then you should really like it.

But if you haven't liked it, then nothing special.

I've enjoyed the season very much, so I can't wait for the next one.

I thought it was a weak cliffhanger for such a long break, but I think this season has been much better than season 2. I was not a fan of last season. Had last night's episode just been a normal weekly episode rather than one right before a big break, then I would have come away very satisfied.

Are you serious? Not once did I ever think Walt and Michael were gone from the show for good. They will be back at some point to throw a monkey wrench into it all.

Basically what we learned last night is

                          1. Kate loves Sawyer and Sawyer loves Kate (most ppl were suspecting that anyway).
                          2. Kate was married to a man that didn't know about her past (she's been on the run.. we get it).
                          3. Jack doesn't know that they're on another island (that's obvious, he really hasn't left his room).
                          4. There *might* be someone higher up than Ben.

Nothing mind blowing. Nothing that makes me want to wait for February to roll around. Just another hour wasted in the hopes that we learn something new. This season has been a total disappointment so far.

Well I enjoyed it because Jack seemed to finally gain power over the Others, and hopefully the constant scenes of the three of them trapped will be over. Yes, the first half of this season has pretty much sucked, but the shows history is too good to just assume its future will still suck. I think it will turn around in Febuary.

I thought last year's season was awful too. But I've invested too much time into this show, and I'm much more interested in the "lesser" characters... Sun, Jin, Sayid, Hurley, and Claire.

Me too. I still liked season 2 (although not nearly as much as Season 1) but this year has been a disappointment so far.

It's quite apparent that the writers had an excellent initial idea about the Island. But now that's it's a hit they have to 'fill' it with a bunch of side stories and plots. The "Others" is proof of this. Instead of spending time and revealing secrets about the Island we're forced to watch this ongoing battle with the Others. So far I see no point to it.

And more and more story and character inconsistancies pop up every episode. Such as:
                              - The Others have all the instruments needed to perform a very complicated surgery such as tumor removal from a spine but they don't have paddles that work. Whatever.
                              - The Others have access to the outside world and yet Ben stays on the island to die of cancer instead of going to a real hospital.
                              - Jack now has a lot of power. He can give Ben life and yet he hasn't asked ONCE about what is really going on. If I'm Jack I demand to see their entire island, where they live, what's been going on, etc. I would also want to speak to someone in the real world letting them know where they are or at least to prove that getting off the island and back to normal civilization is possible.
                              - And I'M REALLY tired of how all these people learn secrets and don't tell anyone!!!. The chicks find a new hatch and don't tell anyone for a few episodes. Locke has seen the 'monster' and he only tells Echo about it. Locke, Echo and Desmond blow up in the hatch with Charlie surviving. When he emerges Claire asks him what happened and all he does is smile with that horrible underbite and say everythings fine. Sure, everything's great except for the massive explotion and possibley 3 other people are dead.
When Desmond is discovered he runs away and doesn't tell anyone about the boat that is docked. You would think he'd like some kind of crew to help him get back home. And I never got the impression that he was a "every man for himself" kind of guy. That's Sawyer.

WAY too many inconsistancies pop up every episode.
It's time to start answering some of the initial questions. And ratings would prove that I'm right in that assumption.

Man...I've been really pleased with this season.

But I prefer Jack and Sawyer's characters over everyone else, so the fact that they have focused on those two mainly really makes it entertaining.

To me, this season has been a lot better than last season. Another reason I probably enjoy it is I don't try to analyze it; I don't try and rack my brain figuring out what this means, what that means, what's going to happen next, etc, etc. I just enjoy it because it's an entertaining TV show.
