Charter Communication Issues, and DirecTV Questions

To start things off, Charter Communication ditched the NFL Network because the NFL Network wanted to be removed from the Sports Tier, and added to Digital Tier. After several e-mails, and phone calls it looks as if they're not getting NFL Network back. Not to mention, I've been on a freakin' waiting list for 6 months now for a Moxi HD-DVR, and they still have no idea when they'll have them in my area.

So my alternatives are Dish Network, which I had a year ago, and had some problems with. First was faulty DVR's, went through a couple in a matter of months. And then the signal loss when it was rainy, sometimes heavy, sometimes just a lite rain would lose signal.

My other alternative is DirecTV, and it's got my eye but I've got some questions. I want 2 standard recievers for my kids room, 1 HD for my bedroom, and one HD for my living room. The site says locals are available in my area, and in HD. But will I need a OTA for this? Anyone in or around the Atlanta area with DirecTV, and could chime in would be great. Also, if anyone else has DirecTV, could you mind posting some impressions of the service. I've always been a cable guy, and the couple months with Dish Network really didn't wow me to say the least.

Now, if I drop Charter Cable, I will more than likely drop the high speed cable service as well, noway I'm paying $60 for it. Bellsouth offers its fast and fastest packages at $35 and $45. Never had DSL either, like I said, always been a cable guy. So does anyone here have DSL? And game alot, download a good bit with no problems?

Sorry for all the questions, etc. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks!

You won't need an OTA unless you want TBS and WB, all other locals are available. The signal is good and I've only had a couple of short dropouts because of bad rain.

Tell them that you will not pay a penny to switch as you already have cable and their hardware is free. If you don't, they will make you pay to lease an HD-DVR that is going to be replaced with the new MPEG4 sometime soon. If you have too, work your way up the chain until you get a good deal.

Thanks man, thats another thing I forgot about. Theyre still using MPEG2. As far as TBS and WB in HD, I don't really care for those in HD.
