Okay. I want to pick up Evil Dead, but I'm not sure which edition is the best. Can anybody help?

The best version if you ask me:

The Evil Dead (Book Of The Dead Limited Edition) (1983)

I have the Elite SE, they don't make it anymore. It's gotta be 7 years old. I have the Anchor Bay SE for ED2, and the Anchor Bay 2 disc LE individually numberd Army of Darkness set.

I'm guessing AOD: Boomstick Edition is different from the Anchor Bay LE?

I used to own the Elite SE until the Book of the Dead was released.

Yep, that's the one I have, it has all the features of the newer book of the dead version, just not the cool casing.

                  From reading it

                  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130

It's pretty similar. Mine is in an old school double disc case and only 30,000 were made like my 2 disc Halloween SE. Pretty cool as I have number 2,000 something.

                  This one is mine

And this is my copy of Halloween

I remember when it was first released, I paid $40-$50 for that DVD.

Your right, that's the one I have... I just glanced quickly at the other one, the other one is the Anchor Bay one. That's what I get for replying without actually looking at my DVD. LOL

$40-$50?!?! I got it for 14.99 off DVDExpress.com (who I think went out of business long ago)! LOL

I bought it when DVD's were first coming out. I don't know when you jumped on the DVD bandwagon, but the first 3-4 years DVD's cost anywhere from $25-$50.

I actually jumped on the DVD bandwagon within a year when it was out. I had paid $400 for my dvd player at the time, there were DVD players going at $1500. I bought a Toshiba, it was their low end model. LOL

Not any DVD I bought. I bought all my DVD's from DVD Express. I got my first DVD player in early 1997. But, that's probably why DVD Express went out of business...LOL Most I've ever paid for a non-box set is 24.99... EVER.

Being such a big Evil Dead fan, I paid whatever at the time when I saw this at the store.

I remember paying $50 for the first Army of Darkness LE double DVD. Which I think had a limited run of 15,000.

I always paid less for my dvd's, these I had to have right away.
