Directv, NFL Sunday Ticket & NFL SuperFan

I've been a Directv subscriber and NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber (the whole reason I signed up for Directv) since August of '97.

Last year, Directv started this RIDICULOUS (I STILL CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT CALMLY) NFL Superfan feature which cost $100 above what the already RIDICULOUS price of the Ticket cost. My beef is that in order to view the games in HD on the Ticket you need the Superfan. Last year, I didn't get it cuz i was so frickin mad that I was already paying for the HD package on top of those $5 stupid fees for additional receivers.

My question is for those that have the Ticket and took the plunge to get Superfan last year. IS IT IN ANYWAY REMOTELY WORTH IT? I could give a flyin' F about the crap that comes with it besides the HD games. That's what I really want.

Also, Directv to me at this point, is kind of like how EA is to alot of EA haters. They continually raise their price for the ticket each year and then offer BS Superfan crap services that was free before.

I will always buy the Ticket though, as I could NEVER go without it. It is a must for me every year. I love my football.

It's worth it for me for 2 reasons.

I just can't bear to watch non-HD programming if humanly possible. With football I feel even stronger about it. I simply can't watch football in standard def.

I loved the Red zone channel last year. And I loved Shortcuts even more. The ability to watch any game I missed in 30 minutes or less was too much for me to pass up.

All you have to do is call DTV retention department and tell them you are thinking about switching because you are upset that you have to pay an extra 100 dollars and your local cable said they wouldnt charge you( even though they dont have nfl package) They will credit your account around 50 dollars or so so you want leave.

I havent paid for premium channels or HD channels with them yet and i have been with them almost 2 years

Yeah, I got my HD TivO from them for basically free by getting to Customer Retention. I have the Premium Choice Package, NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Package, College Football Package, and at the time the NBA Package (Which I have since cancelled). I told them my cable company was basically giving away HD DVR's and they gave me the HD TivO which at the time was going for between 500 and 600 dollars for about 150 dollars.

Well I called them last night and the lady insisted I did not need the Superfan to view the games in HD on the ticket. (I know she is wrong) Anyways, that will be my ammo come the beginning of September.

I too have gone down the route of i'm going to cancel in the past. Normally though they just gave me a $10 credit on my bill for 6 months.

I've had Sunday Ticket for 3 or 4 years now and they gave me SuperFan for free.

I ordered NFL Ticket for the first time on Tuesday, I wanted to order the Superfan package also, I think I had a new employee on the phone, she could not figure out how to order the Superfan package, I am a patient guy, waited almost 20 minutes until finally a person came on the phone said you have been very patient with us so we are going to give you the SuperFan package for free!!!

I just switched to Direct TV because they are running a special where u get sunday ticket for free when you sign up now. I asked over and over and over and over and over if i did not have to buy the 100 bucks add on package in order to view the games in HD, and they kept saying over and over and over no i do not have to. My friend behind me has sunday ticker for the last 5 years, and had to buy the 100 buck add on to get hd games. If they screw me, i will be pissed, and they say all the calls are recorded, so hopefully they better get it straight.

Well, i just got off the phone with directv, and guess what they told me now that i have already ordered Direct TV: YOU NEED SUPERFAN IN ORDER TO GET HD GAMES! What can i do? They told me over and over i dont need it to see games in hd. I feel taken advantage of.

Call the retention department and threaten to go back to cable cause you feel taken advantage of they should give it to you free or at-least half off. my friend got it for free, but his co-worker had to call twice to get his half off.

If only they would do that for new customers. I've called a few times over the last few months to sign up, and everytime they want over $400 for me just to start up (2 HDTV's), and I tell them forget it, I am cheaper through Dish or Cable, everytime, they say have a nice day. Oh well.
