HD question

On comcast.com it says to get regular channels in hd ( like pbs,cbs,nbc,abc espn ect) you need the HD box from comcast and a "HD ready" or "hd-capable" notice on the TV.


Now the one i want is "HD Built in"

So what does that exactly mean?

HD Built in has a tuner built in, it can receive OTA signals from an antenna or cable line (like the local channels)

HD Ready needs an external tuner to receive the HD channels.

Does nobody use the HDTV thread?

HD Built In means it has an HD tuner built into the tv, which means it's actually an HDTV. Most are just HD-capable TV's, not true HDTV's(need's to have a HD tuner to be an HDTV).

Just so you know, you can hook up your cable line to the digital in coaxial connection and scan for HD chans. cable companies, by law(now or in near future, forget), are to have local access television in HD unscrambled. So your tuner will pick them up with the scan.

I get cbs, nbc, abc, pbs, fox, and some advertising channels for free.

So when i get the TV, i get ESPN/cbs/fox/abc/nbc for free..

So theres no point of getting the Comcast HD box then?
