    Can you say Betamax?

You mean VHS vs. Beta? Eventually, one or the other will be the standard.

Yeah, it's called normal, plain ol' DVD.

A grand?! Total waste of money IMO. The 360 HD-DVD player is only supposed to be a couple hundred when it comes out.

No time soon for me. DVDs look quite good already on my HDTV as is.

Re: Have A Blue Ray Player Yet

If I had the money, my choice would be HD-DVD over Blu-Ray. At this point I still don't see the need for the HD era of DVD. With the new upconversion DVD players to near HD quality, it kills some sales for HD-DVD or BR.

No, I mean Blu-Ray is the next Betamax. DVD is the industry standard and will remain that way.

Re: Have A Blue Ray Player Yet

I have a question: seeing as how most of America and by extension Canada doesn't have many customers with HD TV do HD-DVD players only work on HD TV?

I know silly question but was wondering.

They will work on any TV, only benefit you'll get is the extra space, which neither "brand" is using right now anyway.

Hm ic...sounds like a big cash grab to me.

Personally I think technology is moving too fast for the marketplace anyways.

                                co-sign.

I'd say most people aren't gonna abandon their huge DVD collections to jump on board either of the HD players anytime soon.
