    Best remake movie

Saw "Miami Vice" this weekend and it made me think about the recent popularity of movies that remake either old TV shows or older movies. But first my opinion about "Miami Vice": I thought it could have been better...no wait, it should have been better...ah forget it, it wasn't worth the $8.00 bucks.

Movie remakes of TV shows and older movies have been hit or miss. Lately, most of them have been BIG misses. And when I mean BIG misses I'm talking about, 'couldn't hit the side of the ocean' miss. So I wanna ask you guys opinions of what are your best remakes?

Mines is "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. One of the problems with remakes is that they take the old ideas and use the same re-hashed formula. "The Fugitive" was one of the very few(if not the only remake) that took the old ideas and made it better.

    Re: Best remake movie

I'm going to bend the rules a little:

MAGNIFICENT SEVEN which is an Americanization of SEVEN SAMURAI.

There were a lot of movie remakes in the 40s and 50s some of which were superior to the original versions.

As far as TV remakes go I'd have to say DUKES OF HAZARD mainly because while it was a bit crude I thought it was a pretty good update of the old show. Even if the last 15 minutes dragged on a bit.

My favorite remakes are probably Ocean's Eleven and the Italian Job.

The remake SCARFACE was a little overlong IMO. Still a very good movie tho but I think the original has a bit more focus.

When you watch the original "The Thing" when you're about 10 years old sleeping over a friend's house late at night and it's in b&w...... it's pretty damn frightening!

As far as movies.... I'd say "War of the Worlds"

As far as TV....."The Brady Bunch Movie"........ j/k

Those were the first two movies I thought of.

I missed this but I have to rate this one as one of the worst. Oh it's fine on its own but it just doesn't have the flair that the original had. You also didn't get that sense of camaraderie that you got from the Rat Pack. I'd have liked this movie fine enough if it was given a different title and character names.

I'd second The Fugitive. Another movie I'd throw into the ring for consideration is Cruel Intentions.

                              Those two cannot be disputed.

IMO, I also think the following are better:

                              Assault on Precinct 13
                              Hills Have Eyes
