    The Movie 'LIFE'

Im watching it for the 2nd time, with the first being a long time ago. I have a question tho. Theres a scene where it explains how Martin and Eddie Murphy are still enslaved yet its 1944. Does this make any sense? I started watching it halfway thru so maybe they arent slaves, but are hired work? Regardless, they are beaten like slaves and treated and spoken as such, except they say boss instead of master.

    Does anyone know?

If I remember correctly their not really "slaves" but prisoners, but still use the lingo from the days when there were slaves. Could be wrong though.

They were prisoners from NY, but got arrested in Mississippi. The fact that they were way deep in the South probably is where the "slave" terminology comes into play... I don't know if it would have had the same effect had they been in jail in Harlem in 1944...

Pretty funny movie, though... I roared when the prison warden's daughter got knocked up by Can't GetRight, and the warden was trying to find out who the father was... "Who's the daddy of this chocolated baby?!?!?"
