    Car problem....

Well, im puttin this in this section cuz cars are obviously technology.

So i work contruction during the summer. Today my bad ripped and keys fell out. We worked from 5am to 915pm so it was really dark. I switched into 3 different trucks today and we were in 3 different job sites. Sumwhere my keys fell but i dont see myself finding them when i go back tomorrow.

So heres my question. I have a civic. Can honda make a duplicate key (im a ******* and dont have one, looooser), without actually having the actually key, and just by the model number? If not, is there a way to do this? If not, how much am i looking at to replace the ignition and doors?

They should be able to replace it with the VIN number located on your dash near the winshield. A lot of big auto companies actually only make a dozen or so different keys. Those are pretty cheap to replace. There are other keys that have resistor chips in them (picture below) that will probably run 40 or 50 bucks to replace. Doable though.

    Good luck.

They'll make the key from a mold. They shouldn't need a key from you...just the VIN number from your car. They might charge you more though, I'm not really sure.

If your key had a sensor chip in it, it'll cost even more....as Dallasin2K3 stated. You'd know if it had a sensor as you can see it on key (or the key will have a different color where the sensor is located).

Be glad it's not a key fob. I think replacing those runs around $200 or so.
