not out yet. not sure when its due. Last I heard was November.

I had the new 5 LNB dish, and the new MPEG-4 capable receiver installed today. THe DTV guy told me the new DVR's will be available in fall. I guess they are trying to get rid of their existing HD-DVR inventory.

BTW, the new dish, is MASSIVE.

Significiantly bigger. According to the installer it weighs about 34 lbs.

The surface of the dish is like 26" X 29"

what's the point of having 5 lnbs and a bigger dish? more channels?

I just got the HD-DVR Tivo that Directv has. They gave me it for free after I complained about being a subscriber for 10 years. I wonder if those are better

You can get signals from the new sattelites with new programming such as Local channels in HD. No more OTA fo local HD programming for me.

Yeah and to add on to that, the new dvr is coming out in the fall but no date or price was given by DTV as of last week. The only thing I hate about DTV is how they screw over their exisiting customers while giving better deals to new customers. They should at least give the same deals to current subscribers who upgrade. The other bad thing in the STL area is that because of all the storms, the DTV contractors in this area are backed logged and the new dish that was ordered will not be installed until Sept 11th.

yeah i was pissed how the new subscribers get that Sunday ticket deal. Anyway, I called in and pretended like I was mad. I wanted the package and HD Tivo. They came back and gave me the HD-Tivo for free. I used the 10+ years and buy every sports package line (which I do buy everything). They said I was an A+ customer level so they offered me that. I might call them in November or something when the new DVR comes out to get that.

Actually the new HD-DVR was planned for launch in LA this/next week, I haven't checked this week though to see if that is actually happening.

Dish network screws currents subs over the same way. They actually just tried to merge but the FCC rejected it...AGAIN

Dish's HD DVR is freaking 299 to rent it, and almost a grand to buy, so Im sure Directv's box will be at least a grand like the last one was
