Saw 2 was a disaster. I don't really have much hope for the series. The original was superb, and I expected future sequels to be garbage. So far, the second has lived down to my expectations.

yeah, I felt the psychology in Saw 1 was more intense...but Saw 2 had a bit of that, and the story was decent...i mean horror movie plots are rarely super deep, but i can see where Saw 2 could be improved. I have hopes for Saw 3, it'll either be good, or suck totally (sequels scare me)

I think that Saw II would have been a very weak film had it stood completely independent of Saw. Fortunately, a few characters returned, as did a few scenes and musical interludes.

One thing this franchise has going for itself is a trilogy. If Darren Lynn Bousman really took over Leigh Whannell and James Wan's idea in a grand way that they're approving of, hopefully this movie ends it all. There's an intricate balance between wanting more, and having too much. I feel that, because they made a sequel, they have to make one more, and only one more. It was a standalone first film ala The Matrix... but the second one brought in a lot of revenue, and a lot of people left happy.

I enjoy this movie more for the ideas behind everything more than the gore. When things fall into place, I wouldn't mind having the most squeemish feeling than I've ever had before for a scene or whatever. But, I hope it's not just traps and blood. I actually hope that, because this may be the concluding chapter of a trilogy, that this movie is actually longer than the others. That it stretches past two hours, has some good dialogue and story in the movie, and that the characters really progress and develop well.



The main difference between Saw and Saw II? One didn't care for the victims in Saw II as they did in Saw. There's a big reason, and it's because, as Longhorn said, it was one big cluster-****.

I second this....I'm getting into a horror movie kick lately, and though I've seen both of these before, i recommend them....
