    Summary

Welcome to Hoover, Alabama, where football is a way of life. "Two-A-Days" follows the 2005 football season of the Hoover High School Buccaneers, of Hoover, AL. The Bucs, who enter their season ranked #2 in the nation, are chasing their fourth state championship title in five years - but they are also balancing the normal pressures of being high school seniors. They struggle with personal relationships, parents, and academics, all while facing the pressures of demanding coaches, community expectations, and two practices every day in their pursuit of a championship ring, and more importantly, a possible football scholarship. With drama on and off the field, each episode of "Two-A-Days: Hoover High," ends with a big game... and in Hoover, losing is never an option.

This seems to be better than the Friday Night Lights series that NBC is coming out with. Just my opinion though.

Exceprt Taken from The Birmingham News:

MTV's film crews spent at least five months following the nationally ranked Hoover High Buccaneers through their 2005 football season as they chased their fourth consecutive state 6A championship title. Cameras rolled all the way from the first practice in August through the title game at Birmingham's Legion Field in December.

They captured the intensity of grueling two-a-day practices, the thrill and excitement of a nationally televised season opener on ESPN and the frustration of defeat in mid-season.

MTV also followed the personal stories of five select players, showing the pressure that players face to earn a football scholarship and win a championship ring, not to mention the demands of girlfriends, parents and teachers.

"The Bucs are a great football team, and they are great kids who work really, really hard to overcome obstacles and who are able to show what it takes to play in a football program that's as tough as the Bucs' program is," Bailey said. "We hope our viewers get a chance to see what it's like to be on the Bucs team."

Some people in Hoover, including a school board member who voted against allowing MTV to film on campus, were concerned what the network would show, citing its history of provocative programming.

Bailey said producers are still editing, but "I think it's a very positive show overall. I think Hoover will be pleased with it."

Still, "we're the documentary department," Bailey said. "We are trying to tell real stories about real kids."

Hoover High head football Coach Rush Propst said he has seen a little bit of footage but has no idea what will end up on the series.

"We hope it's a good series that portrays high school football in a positive way," Propst said. "I can't guarantee that. I don't think anybody can."

People need to remember that MTV won't be looking through rose-colored glasses, Propst said. They were in Hoover to capture reality, he said. "Everything in life's not perfect and neither will this be," he said. "This is not all birthday cake, so to speak. It's going to be some meat and potatoes and some side dishes."

Hoover schools Superintendent Connie Williams said school officials are eager to see the series.

"My big hope is that it will emphasize the players and the parents and Coach Propst and his staff - how hard they work and the sacrifices they make," Williams said. "That, in my estimation, is why we've been successful."

There's a possibility MTV may return to Hoover for its next football season, but that could depend on how well the show is received, Bailey said.
Williams wants to see how the initial series turns out before deciding Hoover's position. Propst agreed but said he likely would welcome MTV back.

"Was it stressful? Absolutely. Was it at times overbearing? Yes, it was. Was it taking a chance? Yes, it was," Propst said. "But when you look at the whole thing A to Z, I would invite 'em back again ... Our program stands as being one of the best in the country. I'm proud of what we do here."

from an outersider like myself.... thanks! i didnt know what happaned and would watch to find out. looks like I dont need to lol.

every football story/movie is the same.. one kid will have demanding parents. one kid will have supportive parents but the kid wants more freedom. another kid enjoys football but wants to do other stuff and his family kind of forces football onto them. one kids family hates that hes never around because of football and wonders about his wellbeing... then theyll be the drama of homecoming voting.. then the guys poking fun at one of the football players who may win homecoming.. then you have to involve girls and relationships and how some might be strained because of massive amounts of practices and the fact college is coming.

what more is there to show?

Sorry, didn't mean to let that little "spoiler" slip out. I was just doing a little research about the show because I didn't know if it was a dramatic series with actors like Friday Night Lights series or a reality/documentary type show like that one on ESPN that followed Dick Butkus and that high school team from Pennsylavania. Oh well, I'm still gonna check it out.
