A few of my shows have gone off the air this coming year, so I'm going to try a few more new ones out this year. With Joey, Yes Dear, and Alias gone, I only have 7 returning shows this fall on TV (maybe that's a lot to some people). I am going to try and pick up Grey's Anatomy this year. I'll just record them until I can finish the season 2 DVD set since it doesn't come out until like a week before the new season starts. The show seems to have quite a few fans, so hopefully I'll like it. I rented the first season from Blockbuster yesterday to try it out. With 24 being a 2007 show and pretty much Lost being one too, I figured I'd have plenty of open time to try out new shows.
Here's what I'm going to give a try this year. The bolded shows are ones that I have already been watching previous seasons of. I'm not a fan of reality shows (outside of Rockstar) or the "crime" dramas (so none of the CSIs), so you won't see any of those listed. If you guys see anything related to a drama series or comedy that I am totally missing out on, let me know. I'm not a fan of any of the animated stuff or The Office, but I know a lot of you guys are. Sitcoms about groups of friends are my favorite kinds of shows like How I Met Your Mother, Seinfeld, Friends, etc, so I like to give those type shows a chance.
MONDAY
7:00 - The Class (CBS) - New sitcom of a bunch of old friends. Has Alex from Joey on it.
7:30 - How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - Best comedy of last year I thought.
8:00 - Two and a Half Men (CBS) - Didn't like this one as much last year as I did the first two seasons, but I still want to watch it.
8:00 - Heroes (NBC) - This drama sounds kinda cool. It's got like 7 or 8 unrelated cast members that have super powers like flight, telepathy, etc. Don't know where they are going to go with the show, but I want to find out.
8:30 - The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS) - I don't like this show, my wife kind of does, it's just something we watch because it is on.
9:00 - Studio 60 (NBC) - Looks really funny with Matthew Perry. It is setup as a satire of how SNL has fizzled out lately, but they bring in new producers to give it a spark.
9:00 - What About Brian (ABC) - Another one of these friends type comedies. Never know when another "How I Met Your Mother" might appear, so I'll give it a try.
TUESDAY
7:00 - Friday Night Lights (NBC) - A show about high school football, sounds great!
8:00 - Standoff (FOX) - Not sure about this one if it will be too crimey for me, but it has Ron Livingston in it, someone I really find funny.
9:00 - Smith (CBS) - I'm actually going to try this crime drama, because it is from the perspective of the criminals, so that sounds cool. Maybe they won't focus on a bunch of forensics and all that stuff, just map out cool ways to pull off heists. Not a big fan of Liotta, but I'll give it a shot because of the plot.
WEDNESDAY
7:30 - 30 Rock (NBC) - This comedy sounds similar to Studio 60, Tina Fey is a header writer for a TV show, but gets a new eccentric boss in Alec Baldwin.
8:00 - Lost (ABC) - Last year was a bit of dropoff but it ended GREAT. Can't wait till it starts for it's few episodes in the fall.
THURSDAY
7:00 - Smallville (CW) - Really enjoyed last season, hope this season keeps it up. I want to see more flying out of Clark though.
7:00 - 'Til Death (FOX) - Brad Garrett comedy about a long-married couple that has newlyweds move in next door.
7:00 - My Name is Earl (NBC) - Second favorite comedy on right now, show is funny. My first reaction to the show was that I was going to get bored of it, but it never happened.
7:00 - Ugly Betty (ABC) - Ugly girl trying to become a big shot fashion designer. I have so many 7:00 shows on Thursday, this one better grab me quick.
7:30 - Happy Hour (FOX) - Comedy about a guy that gets dumped and moves in with a guy with a totally different personality. This is a show in a good timeslot for me to watch, inbetween Til Death and The OC.
8:00 - The OC (FOX) - Didn't like last season very much, but I've been watching it since the beginning. I'm interested in seeing what they do with all the kids since they seem to be splitting up with them all heading to different colleges.
8:00 - Grey's Anatomy (ABC) - I don't know anything about this show, it just seems to have a lot of fans, so I'm gonna try it out.
9:00 - 6 Degrees (ABC) - From the producers of Lost and Alias, this drama is kind of like the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon game. The six stars are all connected some how. I like movies like this (Crash, Singles, Stay, etc) so maybe I'll like this TV show.
