Music Topics - Rob Gordon Style

I thought this could be an interesting idea that came about through a last.fm journal.

The idea is to 1) reply with the top 5 of the previous poster's topic and 2) then come up with your own top 5 of a different topic.

So, lets say I pick the top 5 album covers from the 90s. I list my 5. The poster that replies posts his top 5 and then comes up with a different topic. Got it? Here we go

    Top 5 Late Night Albums
Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
    Jeff Buckley - Grace
    Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning
    Feist - Let It Die
Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog

I'll have to think of a list, but I wanted to give you props for the High Fidelity reference.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent call on Feist. That's a superb record any time of day, but especially at night.

I would add Steely Dan's "Aja" and Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" to any list of all-time classic night records.

I can't tell you how many times I hooked up in college with chicks with "Aja" playing on my stereo in the dorm room 20 to 22 years ago. Always worked -- plus it's a great record.

      Take care,

Wow no props for Sinatra's IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS and SINARA SINGS FOR ONLY THE LONELY? Those pretty dreary albums that are perfect for listening to late at night. Then again, you'd probably want to kill yourself after listening to them.

Along the same vein but a much shorter album is Marvin Gaye's VULNERABLE.

And I'd just like to throw something out here...

How about we just make this into a general "Top 5 [Anything Music-Related]" thread? Everyone can just drop in and post whatever top five list they want, without necessarily having to rely on the list that was posted before them. Like a list that's been posted? Reply with your own. Want to post something totally off the wall? Let's see if anyone will follow.

                    Thoughts?

That's pretty much how it was going, wasn't it?

Not really. Your original rules requires the replying poster to make two different lists -- one being their version of the previous poster's, the other being their own new topic. What I was suggesting is scrapping that idea and just letting everyone post their own top five list regardless of what has been posted before them.
