    Paramount dumps Tom Cruise

You know you're crazy when you're too crazy for Hollywood. Kind of interesting though, because I'd have figured Tom was still enough of a box office draw to be worth something to a studio regardless of how crazy he is. Guess not.

Paramount cuts ties with Tom Cruise: WSJ

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures unit is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behavior, the company's chairman said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Sumner Redstone, Viacom chairman, said the behavior of the star of the "Mission: Impossible" series and "Top Gun" was unacceptable to the company, according to the Wall Street Journal story e-mailed to reporters.

Cruise, one of Hollywood's biggest stars, has been known more recently for his antics on U.S. television talk shows, including jumping up and down on
Oprah Winfrey's couch to declare his love for Katie Holmes and criticizing the use of antidepressant drugs.

"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Redstone was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Cruise's representatives and officials from Viacom and Paramount did not have any immediate comment on the report.

      Yeah, that's not weird....

LOL, I heard that too. MI3 made decent money though, right? I mean, it's not like the guy is box office poison and if you're still profitable, no production company is going to dump you just for being a nutcase. Surprising. But a refreshing breath of reality from Hollyweird....

Heavy applause for Redstone and Paramount. Cruise is still inexplicably a box office draw even though he can't act his way out of a paper bag, so it took balls for Paramount to ditch him.

The guy is a Frosted Flake deluxe, though. A true whack job who is so self-absorbed that it's not even the least bit funny.

Actually MI:3 was quite a disappointment. Paramount expected it to do bigger business at the theaters. I'm actually not surprised by this. Cruise's last few movies may have made good money but they all performed below studio expectations.

It's going to be REAL interesting to see what happens next in his life.

As of right now tho, i'm laughing my butt off.

Tom Cruise = Biggest Movie Star in the World

He's a little bit "weird" but his resume speaks for itself:

Risky Business, Top Gun, Rain Man, Born On The Fourth Of July, Days Of Thunder, A Few Good Men, The Firm, MI, MI:2, MI:3, Jerry Maguire, Collateral, War Of The Worlds, etc...

Perhaps, but that status has nothing to do with Cruise's acting, but rather his off-screen antics.

And what's the common denominator in nearly all of those roles for Cruise? He plays an arrogant young man who encounters some sort of life-changing event in the film that causes him to find humility and seek the truth. You can add "Cocktail" and "Far And Away" to that list, too.

All that proves is that Cruise has the acting range of a regular actor at a summer reperetory theater. The guy is the most overrated actor in Hollywood, by a mile.

I can count the number of quality roles he has performed on one hand and still have three digits left over.
