    SNL makes cast changes

    http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-sn...p-tv-headlines

Looks like Parnell, Mitchell, and Sanz are gone. Hammond is up in the air.

Fey and Dratch left for 30 Rock.

Sudeikis will be the new WU anchor.

With Sanz getting the axe, I wonder who will be the token fat guy.

Hopefully they add new writers. Getting Rachel McAdams to host would also be great.

If they axe Hammond then I will have no reason to watch SNL ever again.

I doubt they'll axe Parnell, the rest can all go, especially Sanz, he's awful.

There hasnt been a reason to watch SNL for about five or six years now. I like Hammond, but I see him on talkshows and online doing his shtick. SNL has fallen from where it used to be IMO.

They can't get rid of Hammond fast enough. Hader has proven in a short amount of time that he's better than Hammond and his Donald Trump and Chris Mathews impressions.

          Btw, really hope Parnell's staying.

They should just save themselves the trouble and cancel the show. It's past it's prime....much past it's prime.

The last time I enjoyed SNL and looked forward to it every weekend was during the Farley, Sandler, Myers, Spade days... That cast was excellent IMO.

SNL has been past its prime for close to 20 years. It never will top the Murray-Radner-Newman-Belushi-Ackroyd-Morris-Chase days from 1975-78. Ever.

The cast JoeBoo mentioned was very strong, probably the second best in the show's history behind the one above.

                    I thought the best cast was Eddie Murphy-Joe Piscopo-Julia Louis Dreyfus-Tim Kazurinsky-Mary Gross-Brad Hall.

Yeah, Eddie Murphy carried the show during that time(sometimes Joe Piscopo) BUT it was the last time I considered SNL funny.

I agree with both comments...the Sandler/Farley/Spade era was the last consistantly funny time. I sometimes laugh at the current SNL, but 90% of it isn't very good. I don't think SNL will ever be at its prime ever again. People have the fond memories of the original cast (rightly so), and SNL doesn't have the novelty/new factor that it had back then.

That was my favorite cast then the Spade, Farley Sandler then the Chase, Akroyd, Belushi one.

That was pretty strong. But Ferrell and Oteri milked the "cheerleader" skit until nothing but powered Carnation was flowing from the teet. It was a pretty early indication of what we're seeing now: Ferrell has limited range as a comic actor.

                              Re: SNL makes cast changes

                              I wasn't a big fan of the 75-80 cast.

The only casts member I liked during those seasons were Bill Murray and John Belushi.

Now that Will Ferrell is one of the biggest movie stars, I find it amusing when people say how great he was on SNL.

IMO the Will Ferrell years (1995-2002) were the worst in SNL history. I didn't care for Spartan Cheerleaders, Lovahs, The Butabi Brothers, and Janet Reno sketches. The bests skits were Celeb Jeopardy and of course perhaps the best skit in SNL history, the recording of the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult.

Guess what? I got a fever. And the only prescription...is MORE COWBELL!!!

My favorite SNL years are 90-95.

The cast had Sandler, Farley, Spade, Carvey, Hartman, Nealon, Myers, and Schneider, and Macdonald

There were so many good recurring sketches/characters:

                              - Hanz and Franz
                              - Mr. Subliminal
                              - Coffee Talk with Linda Richman
                              - Wayne's World
                              - Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker
                              - Opera Man

I didn't care for Rock, Mohr, Silverman, Franken, Sweeney, and Meadows.

I'm glad Tina Fey is gone as head writer. For the most part, the cast hasn't been the problem. Poor writing has dragged the show down.
