      Exactly my point.

For me, it's a normal price. So when I go to your town, I can buy 3 of them!

There's a high cost of living in NYC. Anything less than $100k and you're living from paycheck to paycheck. If I'm making $100k in your city or town, I'm rich.

What you fail to realize is that if you do the same job in any other town, you won't be making the $100k like you would in NYC.

Being underpaid is something to be proud of?

I can take the money I've made in NYC, and wouldn't have to work for a year in your city.

I've been kidding around for the most part, but face it. There's no place like New York City. The song was right: If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere.

I'm saying that the guy from anytown USA doesn't need $100k to live as comfortable, or in most cases, more comfortably than you. I'm saying that along with high cost of living, there are usually high wages to match.

True indeed. But I'm going to let you in on a little secret...Shh, don't tell anyone.

Those type of jobs don't just appear. Starting salaries are low across the board. Our Police force, along with our teachers, are some of the lowest paid in the country. We still have our share of working class poor that are getting priced out of the city.

The unemployment rate is higher here than in almost any area of the country. And that's with a growing economy. The competition for jobs, money really, is fierce. Heck, competition is fierce over a parking space here! The only exception is where Katrina hit. And guess who a good amount of the contracting jobs went to?

A New Yorker can go anywhere in the country and live well. Someone with average skills according to NYC standards has above-average skills elsewhere. For a New Yorker, it's so much easier to find a job in Anywhere, USA. That's only because of the NYC grind. There's nothing like it.

And for the record, after four years of tax increases and other expenses going up, salaries were finally adjusted themselves. For many, it was too late. They had already landed high paying jobs in another part of the country.

Since you're not frm NYC, it probably is.

I'm most surprised by seeing North Carolina cities all over that list. If I had to pick a state I would associate with being laid back and not "angry" North Carolina would likely be in my top five.

I think the survey has a rather large flaw in that it is connecting high blood pressure solely with being angry, which isn't necessarily true. Unhealthy eating, smoking, and alcohol contribute heavily to high blood pressure, but such practices do not necessarily correlate with being angry.
