    AMD vs INTEL ??

    Guys,

What are your feelings regarding these two processors?? Some people state that the AMD's run a liitle slow. Is Duo Core really necessary or is the Pentium 4 enough.

Just work with some apps( Word etc.) and Internet use only.

    Thanks

You should be fine if just using word. I have a Core Duo notebook and it is great, but I use it for heavy multitasking using office, internet, video/photo editing and 3d design programs. I bought the Core Duo to fit my needs, and from what I heard, AMD processors are slower then Intels at the moment, but that all can change quickly.

I would take Intel's over AMD anyday. But that is just my opinion.

I have a dual core in pentium in my PC and I love it, but ADM isn't that bad nor far behind.

I'm using an AMD as of now, and I haven't crashed or froze my com ever since I bought it (almost 2 months ago).

Well, to be fair, that's more of an OS thing than a CPU thing.

The AMD 64 bit Turion is nice. Currently have that on my notebook and on my home PC I have a Intel Dual Core. Can't really compare the two but dual core is really nice.

right now the Core 2 duo's (or is it Core duo 2?) are slightly faster than the dual core AMD's. But I heard AMD is working on a faster chip at the moment.

Either way, I don't think you can go wrong. Just look for opinions on which chip gets lower temperatures.

I personally bought an AMD last year summer because the AMD chip was slightly faster and produced less heat then the Intel equivalent.

Also AMD's are usually cheaper than Intel. But I still don't think you can go wrong either way, at least right now.

On a PC, buying one made I might go for Intel but my AMD has been fine but then again I'm not buying 3-4 GHZ processors like some people do so they may not like AMD.

To buy seperately, AMD hands down. (build your own pc)

if i have a p4 chip, can i plug and play the new dual core chip into the MB? or is a diff. MB required?

if i were to buy a new MB, is that essentially all plug and play too? just a real easy transfer of dvdroms and HDs, power supply, memory etc
