DirectV v. Dish

Anyone ever had both? I don't care about Sunday Ticket, so throw that out of the equation. Differences between the two?

I have and Heelfan is right. Thats the difference, plus Dish has more HD channels.

They make their own equipment instead of it coming from tivo or whatnot, but the features range from similar to the same.

Throwing football out, what else do you want?

I had DirecTV and aside from small problems when it storms (or at least when I had it a few years ago) and sometimes sun spots can cause problems for 5-10 seconds, but nothing major.

I'm stuck with cable right now (since I don't know what internet service I would go with) which isn't horrible but I always liked DirecTV.

I don't mind DirectV, but the Dish package seems cheaper. I don't have to buy the sports pack to get ESPNU, CSTV, FSC, and GolTV. Plus, more HD channels.

I would advise going directly to DISH network's web site to price out the packages with HDTV, the pricing is a little more accurate.
