You can get the radio adapter accessorie for the ipod or buy a deck that has an ipod hookup. Example all alpine decks have an ipod hookup.

You can go with an FM Transmitter, but they are often hit or miss and lack much sound quality.

You can get a tap adapter, but tape players are hard to come by anymore.

The best thing to do is to go to crutchfield.com and look for an Ipod car stereo adapter.

          iTrip

It makes it so your iPod broadcast onto an un used radio station and then you just tune into it like you would a regular radio station. They have other things if you want to be able to charge the iPod and listen to it through your car speakers. And they all just plug into the cigarette lighter place.

Just go to your local Best Buy or Circuit City, they should all have them.

If you have an aftermarket head unit, or one with aux inputs on it, you can simply run an 1/8" to rca cable to hook your Ipod to the aux input. That is how mine is hooked up.

If you live in an urban area, go with the tape adapter. The FM transmitter makes it so you have to use a station that doesn't exist, however in big cities, your radio often picks up weird frequencies even if there's no radio station then, thus renderring the iPod useless until you switch to a different un-used station.

Definitely go with the tape adapter.

I had one for my Walkman, and it works just the same for the iPod.

That's actually the only place I use my iPod is when I'm driving.

If you want good quality, don't go with tape,fm, itrip, etc. You need to get something to hook to the back of your radio. Get something from crutchfield, its not hard to pull your radio out and plug the port into the back and then run a RCA cable to wherever you are going to put the ipod.

I had so much trouble with my itrip it's not worth it. The one that plugs into the car lighter, which I think is the adapter...thats you're best bet. My buddy has one, it works great and it charges your ipod while its playing.

In my car, I bought a CD player that has a line-in port, then used that to hook up the iPod to the car via the iPod's headphone jack. It worked for me, though this is probably one of the more expensive alternatives.

I would probably go with a tape adapter if my car had a tape deck. I haven't had one of those in 10 years probably. I use a FM transmitter and it works pretty well with my mp3 player.

Got the one that hooks into the cigarette lighter. It's really good and it can drown out stations too.

Try to avoid FM transmitters at all costs.

I've used one for 2 years, never had a problem and I live in a major city.
