The Illusionist
I dunno how many people are going to see this movie seen as how it wasn't being carried by a good chunk of the theaters by me, but I must say it is a very good movie. Norton and Giamatti do a good job with their roles and Jessica Biel is very...un-Jessica Biel-like. There is not much if any action at all, and there are a smattering of laughs to be had, but it is mostly just a good story and in my opinion, a smart movie. I did not have high expectations for it going in, but I must say it's one of the better movie's I've seen recently.Tags: None -
Re: The Illusionist
Just watched this on DVD last night and it is a DEFINITE rental. A chick movie and a guy movie all wrapped up in one. PG-13, but yet not one curse word. Not sure why it's PG-13, as there's no real skin to speak of either, only the suggestion that sex occurred (which I can many times relate to....lol).Comment

Re: The Illusionist
Here's the description
Eisenheim (Edward Norton) is a stage magician who amazes the audiences of turn-of-the-century Vienna, drawing the attention of Crown Prince Leopold (Rufus Sewell). When the Prince's intended, Sophie von Teschen (Jessica Biel), assists the magician onstage, Eisenheim and Sophie recognize each other from their childhoods -- and a dormant love affair is rekindled. As the clandestine romance continues, Chief Inspector Uhl (Paul Giamatti) is charged by Leopold to expose Eisenheim, and Eisenheim prepares to execute his greatest illusion yet.Comment

Re: The Illusionist
Meh....I don't let web sites and reviewers influence what I want to watch. If I like the actors and the story line, it's worth checking out. This one was solid from start to finish imo.For you guys wondering about this one, it got 75% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B overall on YahooComment

Re: The Illusionist
Oh I know, but its sometimes those sites can give you an idea if a movie is a stinker or not. Frankly, If i see a movie gets something under 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, I'm not gonna waste $8 to see the movie.Comment

Re: The Illusionist
I liked the movie up until the last 30 minutes. The ending didn't make me "believe" like some other movies that have that type of ending.
It's nice to see Edward Norton in movies again though. He was in like three movies last year.
Edit: Oh and I still liked the movie overall. I don't let a weak ending ruin a whole movie for me.Comment
